trips - Loon Lake Winter FiascoTrip Info
DescriptionThis trip actually consists of 2 phases. Phase 1 begins Wednesday Jan 12 at the beautiful Loon Lake Chalet where we will stay for 2 nights. Anyone interested in doing some day skiing or snowshoeing but not camping in the snow should attend this phase. The Chalet is a very deluxe facility in an otherwise undeveloped area. Check out these links: http://community.webshots.com/album/114986845CxWoaQ http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/eldorado/cabins/loonchalet.html Phase 2 begins Friday morning (Jan. 14) when we leave the Chalet on snowshoes/skis and head off into the beautiful Crystal Basin for 2 more nights (possibly 3) in the snow covered wilderness. The usual insanity will prevail during this phase of the trip. With the early snowfall this season, we should have an impressive snowpack by mid-January. This will be the kind of trip that legends are made of. Be there or face a lifetime of regret.
