trips - BRT Fall HikeTrip Info
DescriptionThursday – Drive from Little Rock and stay the night at the Ozark Campground on the Buffalo River, only a few miles from Jasper, Arkansas. Jasper is about 140 miles and 2.5 hours from LR. For those arriving late Thursday, eat on the way because they roll up the sidewalks in Jasper after 8:00 PM. There are a couple of small motels in Jasper (Gordon’s and Riverview) if you are inclined to stay indoors. Friday morning, we'll have an early breakfast at the Ozark Café in Jasper. Friday – We will head over to Ponca and begin the hike. I am working on having my vehicle shuttled to Pruitt. We will hike 10 miles and camp near the Kyle’s Landing campground. Kyle’s can be an access point for those joining Friday Night or Saturday morning. Those coming in Friday need to coordinate with me in regard to a shuttle. Saturday – Hike 8.6 miles and camp near the Erbie campground. Erbie could be a departure point if someone only wanted to camp one night. Sunday – Hike 7.7 miles to Pruitt. My vehicle will be there (extended cab pickup, so I can haul two in addition to NGB, Randall and myself and gear) back to Kyle's) The we will head to Jasper for the Sunday buffet at the Ozark café. Sunday night we are going down to the Chancel trailhead on the OHT and hiking about 2 miles to a campsite on the Hurricane Creek. Monday, we take Randall to the airport and come back to Memphis. If anyone is wanting to make the full four day trip and needs a ride from Memphis, they need to be here by Noon as we will be leaving about then toward Little Rock to pick up Randall.
