trips - LBL North EndTrip Info
DescriptionHiking the best part of the North South Trail at Land Between The Lakes. LBL is a national recreation area in Western Kentucky. As the name implies, there are lakes on both sides of the park which provides numerous opportunities for scenic lake views. Backcountry Camper permits are required and are $5 a person. They can be purchased at any visitor or welcome center or at the Hillman Ferry Campgrounds office. Friday - Meet at campground at Energy Lake Campground, because we know that it's open. Saturday - We will meet at the North Welcome Station at 10:00am Central (local) time and hike the Canal Loop counter clockwise. The Canal loop is ~10 miles with connector trails running in between. You can choose to hike anywhere from 4-10 miles depending on what you prefer. We will be camping at the back country site marked on the map below. It's between connector trail C and D. It's the only campsite between them on the Kenturcy Lake side and very hard to miss. Sunday - Hike 1 1/2 miles out to The Welcome Station.
