trips - Knobstone Bad-ass Buttkicker: New Chapel 2 Elk CrkTrip Info
Descriptionnew chapel to elk creek on the knobstone trail, with a water cache at leota. that's about 15 miles over 2 days. not big miles, but according to captain crack, it's some of the toughest big-ass bad-ass hilly trail on the whole kt THE PLAN Friday night, camp at New Chapel trailhead, on the north side of the road, before the trail goes uphill. Saturday morning, break camp and go north on the trail. I want to make it at least as far as Leota trailhead, but I would prefer we make it to Lino road (halfway between miles 26 & 27). That would make just short of 10 miles on Saturday, and about 5 miles on Sunday. If I have time, I'm going to go down early on Thursday or Friday and scout the area around Lino for a place to camp, and the water situation. I will definitely cache some water somewhere, either Lino or Leota. Let me know if you want to join me for that. Also, let me know if you cannot make it until Saturday morn. Nigal and Meangreen are going to camp at Jackson Thursday night and hike from there to New Chapel on Friday. I may join them, depending on my work schedule.
