DescriptionLet’s hike from Winding Stair Gap (Frankin, NC) to Clingman's Dome for a distance of approximately hike 90 miles over 8 days. This is thru-hiker season and we can expect plenty of company on the trail and in the shelters. The plan is to meet at Clingman’s Dome the morning of April 4. We will leave the cars here and have someone shuttle us to Winding Stair Gap where we will start the hike. We will hike Saturday, April 4 and end Saturday April 11. The daily mileage will be between 10 -15 miles per day, allowing for a low mileage on day 5 to re-supply in Fontana Dam and low mileage on the last day. I will take care of the shelter reservations for the Smokies, as well as arranging for the shuttle from Clingman's Dome to Winding Stair Gap.
