trips - North/South Trail Thru HikeTrip Info
DescriptionWe are going to be hiking north. If you plan on going, let me know so I can include you in Saturday nights food count. Fifthmaster is meeting us on Saturday night and will cook for us. Friday morning we will shuttle cars and cache any remaining water. If you'd like to join us just for the weekend, you can leave your car at the Golden Pond Welcome Center which is @ 30 miles from the N/S trailhead. Friday - Day 1 - Iron Mountain to South Welcome Center. @11 miles. 2 liters of water are stashed here Saturday - Day 2 - Iron Mtn Shelter to Mtn Laurel Spring Trail @11.6 miles. Catch a ride to Redd Hollow Boat Launch and campground area for cookout. Sunday Day 3 - Mtn Laurel to Dead Beaver Spring for 10.3 miles - possibly to Buzzard Wing Spring at 14.5 miles. Buzzard Wing would make a shorter day on Monday. We'll pass by Golden Pond Visitor Center to resupply. Monday Day 4 - Buzzard Wing or Dead Beaver Spring to FR 130 @12 or 15 miles. Water is stashed at FR 130 and around #3 crossing. Tuesday Day 5 - FR 130 to North Welcome Center 30 @ 11.3 miles. Hunting is allowed in Kentucky on Sat and Sun so wear your orange. Chili should be ok in his TN colors. :)
