Description30.3 miles of stunning Yellowstone scenery. The Bechler River is most renown for its many waterfalls. The area is even called "Cascade Corner" due the the abundance of the falls. Take a hike along the Bechler River Trail and you can see 12 waterfalls along the trail with eight more withing easy bushwacking distance. This trip starts at the Lone Star trailhead Southeast of Old Faithful, and finishes at the Bechler River Ranger Station in the far Southwest corner of the park. Highlights include - Lone Star Geyser, Bechler River Canyon, Twister Falls, Colonnade Falls, Bechler Meadows, and a side trip to the Shosone Geyser Basin. trip dates and mileage - Wednesday August 27 - Start in afternoon to drive to Grand Teton NP (8 hours) Thursday August 28 - Pickup permit, Dayhike in Yellowstone NP, do the tourist thing, stay at Old Faithful Inn. Friday August 29 - Set up car shuttle early in morning (i emailed yellowstone shuttle service). 10 am Hike in to campsite 9D4 (Continental Divide) 9.5 miles. Saturday August 30 - Hike to campsite 9D1 (Ferris Fork) ? miles. Sunday August 31 - Hike to campsite 9B4 (Ouzel Falls) ? miles. Monday Sept 1 - Hike to campsite 9B1 (Lower Boundary Creek) ? miles. Tuesday Sept 2 - Hike out 3.2 or 4.4 miles, do the tourist thing, camp. Wed Sept 3 - Drive back to Denver.
