trips - Chill'in on the Two Lakes LoopTrip Info
DescriptionI will be hiking the Two Lakes Loop (at least some of it) the weekend of the 18th. This will be a very mellow trip focused mostly on swimming and relaxing. The trail is easy to very moderate, and there will be options for mileage also. The entire loop is 12 miles, but there is a connector trail half way through, so you could get away with about 8 if you chose not to hike the entire loop. I plan on camping on or very near one of the two lakes and spending most of our time swimming and being a beach bum. The trip is open to all, and would be a good one for new hikers, or those who just want lots of peace and quiet with out loads of miles. Indian and Celina National Rec. Area is located in extreme southren Indiana between Evansville and Louisville just a couple miles South of I-64. There is a $5 fee for cars entering the park, or you can park right at the gate house and walk the 3/4mi. to the trail head for free. Maps are also available at the gate free of charge. Both of these lakes do not allow gas powered boats, so it is very quiet and clean which is refreshing. So come one come all, there's no size limit. Lets have a great weekend! Here's a link to some good info on the park: http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/hoosier/recreation/two_lakes_trail.htm Meeting times and hiking direction to be determined later by what works best for the group.
