I'm going to count anyone with a sticker, tshirt or whatever that has a college on it, (except for any Washington schools or bordering states) and I will see who is popular and who isn't.

I'm sure Tommy Gallion will get to the bottom of this. Most likely UT would have had one possiblly two less plays."

Actually, that’s not true. The SEC has a problem with the call as well. We just don’t get to hear about the outcome.

Florida merchandise outsells almost every other school. I think Notre Dame, and possibly FSU, outsell Florida. There was an article in the paper about an FSU player from Oregon. He was quoted as saying that all the good players he knew thought that Florida, FSU, and Miami were the most popular schools and that that they all wanted to play for them. Maybe it wasn’t the same when you played football, but you obviously lost your ability to make any sense after your Alzheimer’s kicked in.”

I am sure you would argue the phantom catch from 2 yrs ago was a good call while everyone else in the ENTIRE FREAKING COUNTRY didn't.

You got to hear about it. The SEC said they made a mistake on the clock, not the personal foul.

“sure can dayhiker when I see a bad call. But that wasn't a bad call. If the ref tells you to stop and one does and the other doesn't he gets flagged. That was the case in that foul.
You and I both know the one who hits last is always the one to get caught.”

On to more chipper topics, this weekends UT/AU game should be a good one. I suppose I'm pulling for homestate Auburn, but I suspect UT will win.”

“It would be very interesting to see the entire skirmish and also have some audio without the blaring Neyland crowd. Several folks have said that the ref was warning those guys of their physical play as soon as they left the line of scrimmage. In that case, 99% of the time the flag goes against the offender who commits the foul after the play. Not exactly right or fair but with the amount of intense contact in every play picking and choosing what to call and not call is the difference between a good and bad official. Bottom line it was a tough call. BTW, I have yet to see any info from the SEC Office saying the call should have been offsetting. Anyhow, the fact still remain that it really doesn't matter anymore than the phantom catch. Both games are in the books. Who cares!”

Another thing to remember is very few nonSEC teams are ever given any respect by any SEC supporter. That includes me, the supporter of the last place SEC team. ;-)

The Tennessee player hit the Florida player in the facemask. The ref is running in, about ten yards away, when the Florida player retaliated. The head of SEC officials said it was a bad call,

The CBS announcers talked about CALLS (as in plural) during the game

ESPN talked about CALLS (as in plural) after the game

SEC head of officials, Bobby Gaston talked about CALLS as in plural after the game.

USA Today had an article about CALLS as in plural after the game.

Kentucky coach Rich Brooks talked about bad CALLS as in plural

Folks can talk about the PF as being a good call or that there was only one bad call, but they look like fools for doing so. But who am I to keep people from looking like fools? Geez, on this thread, I practically wrote the book on it.



Well pixie, the merchandising statistics are public record. I forget exactly where I read that stat but it may have been in the Florida Football Yearbook. The University Athletic Association is private organization and keeps accurate records on the sale of merchandise. Florida has been one of the most televised teams in the country for at least ten years. And I’ve already posted the fact that ESPN gameday has been on Florida’s campus more than any other. That sure is a stronger argument than anything you’ve been able to show. And I’ll take the word of an actual football player over an Alzheimers inflicted cheerleader any day.


Pixie not only doesn’t get it, pixie wouldn’t stand a chance in the contest. Logical observation and facts trump emotional nonsense when it comes to understanding football.


In fact, pixie, buddha, nigal (who’s just jealous that I actually HAVE one), violin, and Ewker, are all afraid to show their ignorance. Trailhound can be forgiven because he’s a Jawja fan. I don’t expect much from him. Everybody knows Jawja always chokes anyway.


I’m not only a god, dayhiker, but at 6’1” and 210 I might-could still play linebacker. I was nuts when we were State 3-A champs, but I’ve mellowed considerably.


Hey stovestomper (wanna take another shot at kayaking Juniper this year?), you couldn’t tell where I was from by the way I speak could you? I never had much of an accent, but I can always muster up the NJ/NY attitude when it suites my purpose. You sure are right. It’s all about rough and tumble, just like the SEC. Some people don’t like it but that’s not my problem. I’m glad that there are a few who at least understand it. Some people don’t like Monty Python’s Flying Circus or Don Rickles. It’s a matter of personal choice and not a popularity contest.




BTW Arky, I wish you and your team well. I met some Ark fans at our SEC Championship game a few years back. They were nice, laid back, but very passionate about their team. It should be a good one.
