Good, blame him not me. I want Ohio St. to win also. My motive is simple, I'd like for Ohio St. to come through in the BIG game against Michigan. Also, I don't want Oklahoma to be one team closer to playing in the National Chumpionship Game. It's Ohio State's turn to play a southern team and get beat up. The twelve stooges had their shot last year and got creamed. Face it, folks, the National Chumpionship is a done deal.

Speaking of losers:
Rutgers getting 29
Florida State to cover 5
Central Florida getting 4
USC to cover 4
Wisconsin to cover 7
San Jose State getting 6
Auburn getting 10 (not winning, just getting within 10, Dayhiker)
Temple getting 9
Iowa State to cover 18
Air Force to cover 16.5
Alabama-Birmingham getting 18

...I already picked Pittsburgh getting 21. 21? That was the sure pick of the week. Probably my only correct pick of the week as well.

But I do have a question. Does Ohio State look like that good a team?

I followed the game today. It felt like two inept teams playing, IMHO. B-O-R-I-N-G.......

I don't think the Buckeyes are a national championship caliber team. H3ll, put'em up against the Hawks and let's see if they can even win the Big 10...... Oh that's right, they NEVER PLAYED the Hawkeyes. That game should defnitely have been played enroute to any big bowl bid.

I don't know what the line was on that game today. Did Ohio State cover it? Too bad bowl game reps don't take away points for barely there wins over so-so teams....

Again, I congratulate Iowa on a great season. May the Heisman come your way, as well as a Rose Bowl win... while other Big 10 reps in bowl games flounder.

Yes, Kansas played....
KU 105, UNC Greensboro 66. (We let the walk-ons play the last 5 minutes.
Although our football season was over a long time ago, we played our last game last week. That's why Mangino has the head start in the recruiting war.

Big number 87 for Auburn sunk the Crimson Tide. Congrats to Cocoa Williams. (Don't drink and drive.)

NC State was just plain nasty on defense. They knocked the you-know-what out of that Florida school. Joe Pa leads in the wins column.

ND showed no mercy on the Wounded Amoebas.

Congratulations to the Buckeyes. I hope your luck keeps going if you meet Miami in the big game.

This season is a great example of why no conference should be so big that each school doesn't meet in the regular season. They aren't really conferences when they have so many schools. They are just greedy money machines. I sure did like the Big Eight.

Congrats Hyway. Virginia won, State Penn won, Army lost, 2-1 with my teams again!

We need a coach at Army. We've got a kid who likes to play with puzzles. I'm torn. If we beat Navy, he'll probably be back next year. If we lose to Navy, he's gotta be gone.

Win=keep losing; lose=maybe get a winner for a coach. But I can't bring myself to root for Navy. That would be treason. So do I root for Army and secretly hope Navy wins? Then if Army wins am I supposed to be happy? And if Navy wins do I cry or cheer? This is not a healthy argument to be having with myself.

Buddha Bear, what would you do?
What if Ohio State had a lousy coach going into the Michigan game? It's not the same because Army-Navy is civil war. It's not just a game.

Miami loses to Syracuse.

Oklahoma wins ugly vs. Oklahoma State, losing the 5 point cushion they have on Iowa in AP poll.

Ohio State goes into Fiesta Bowl #1 in AP. Iowa goes into Rose Bowl at #2 in AP. Ohio State loses in Fiesta Bowl and Iowa wins Rose Bowl.

Co-National Champions. That's what I'm hoping for.

They say winning is the best revenge, but alas, Lizs is still here talking smack. Iowa fans are like the blind squirrel when it finally finds its nut - they've gone without for so long , they don't know what to do with it once they get it. The same Iowa fans who've been telling us all season that Michigan would play spoiler to us because "they always do" are the same ones who want us to forget history and believe Iowa's season isn't a fluke. Iowa likes to tout itself as the best team in the Big 10, yet they couldn't even prove that they were the best team in Iowa. Fact is, the Buckeyes are undefeated and Iowa isn't. Everything else is speculation.

"Again, I congratulate Iowa on a great season. May the Heisman come your way, as well as a Rose Bowl win... while other Big 10 reps in bowl games flounder."

Come on, Lizs! Even bandwagoners know to root for your own conference in any non-conference game. Even Iowa fans have to be sick of the ESPN idiots knocking the Big 10 as a weak conference. If the Big 10 schools take care of business in their bowl games, we can silence the naysayers. I for one hope that the Buckeyes and the Hawkeyes end the season #1 and #2, respectively, despite listening to the ignorant Iowa fans talking trash all season.

"I don't think the Buckeyes are a national championship caliber team. H3ll, put'em up against the Hawks and let's see if they can even win the Big 10...... Oh that's right, they NEVER PLAYED the Hawkeyes. That game should defnitely have been played enroute to any big bowl bid.
lizs

BRING IT ON! The Bucks will take on your "Heisman Candidate" and shut him down just like they shut down Larry Johnson and Jason Gesser. So the Big 10 wasn't able to use their crystal ball to know that this would be the year that the Hawkeyes would finally pull a winning season out of their a$$es - who knew? But again, the simple fact is that the Bucks took care of business when it counted and Iowa lost to a 6 loss team. The Bucks just win, period. They play conservatively to avoid big plays by their opponents. It ain't pretty, but then they don't give points for pretty, do they?

For the record, the line on the game was OSU by 4. Final score - OSU 14, Michigan 9. For you Iowa grads, that's a 5 point win.

The tiny ten WILL prove itself in the bowl games Buddah, and that's a fact. Why, that conference is so backwards that Iowa and Ohio St. never got to play in some sort of league championship. I would have loved to see that game. I think Iowa would have won. Here's a stat for ya, the only two leagues with winning records in the bowls, for the past two years, have been the Big East and the SEC.

If we're going to have a playoff, the leagues need to start having a championship game. Some conferences are still in the stone age.

Guess your Wash. St. prediction didn't pan out, Buddah. Oh well, there's always the football god competition. For the Fiesta Bowl, pick Ohio St. to beat Miami, please, please, pretty please.

Trip Report: Voyage to Berzerkeley
Photos here.

I know all you south, east coast, and midwest fans won't appreciate this, but we have a few pretty good rivalries out west. Saturday I went to my 24th consecutive Big Game (that's Stanford vs. Cal). This rivalry is actually one of the oldest in college football, despite the fact that Stanford is a relatively "new" university, having been founded in 1891. Stanford had won the past 7 straight Big Games, but this year was vastly inferior to the Bears. Everybody knew Cal would win this year, including (probably) the Stanford players. No, there was no surprise ending this time, as Cal prevailed 30-7, scoring 30 unanswered points after Stanford's TD on their first possession. Ordinarily, this would put the Bears in a bowl game, but they're on probation - heh heh.

Anyway, I took Cameron to the game this year because the last time the game was at Berkeley the violence factor was way down. Before 2 years ago, there were always many fights in the stands and you could count on some drunk Cal student to run onto the field and try to beat up a band member at some point during the day. After every Stanford victory, Stanford fans had to endure threats and airborne beer on the walk back to the BART station. This year, the only worry was explaining to Cameron what "F___ Stanford" meant, as it was prominently displayed on most T-shirts - yes, this is one classy place. In my day, we would trade clever (sometimes even funny) cheers with the Cal students, like something to do with "You're gonna work for us some day!" This year, Stanford began with "High School Band!!" as Cal's band approached the field. Cal's students responded with, of course, "F___ Stanford!!" Hmmm, I guess that's what 7 years of agony does to people. We left with a couple minutes to go in the game, as we had a dinner engagement with some friends, so we missed the tearing down of the goalposts. To their credit, there were no reports that I heard of Cal folks attacking Stanford folks - I guess they finally figured out how to be somewhat civilized. Now, if we could just find them a T-shirt designer....

[special note: actually, I have degrees from both universities....]
