My faith is returning
Army gave up a safety. 25-20.

And the Horned Toads now have a first down at the Army 15.

Phew, thought I was listening to the wrong Army team there for a moment.

Put the mules back in the stable
TCU 46, Army 27, on Homecoming Day at West Point with 15 seconds to play, and Coach (Rotten) Berry calls a time out.

I wonder if he's gonna put that puzzle together and score 19 points in 15 seconds.

And the Horned Toads QB takes a knee to end the game after that strategic time out, probably taken to discuss strategy. What a coaching genius that Coach (Rasp) Berry is.

The Swabs must be salivating over their prospects for the big December game.

Dem Horns letting me down again.
Damn! I like OU a lot... I even figured they would beat UT, is one of my favorite teams, but I went to UT. Even though I figured OU was going to win (as I said in an earlier post), it was still painful to see the way the Horns got domninated in the second half.

Brightest spot of the day football wise was a great game between Miami and FSU (I only caught the end... saving up my couch potato time for OU/UT).

Oh my, not again!
State Penn got dropped my (Grrrr) Michigan (again) in OT. I hate Michigan. Joe Pa hates Michigan. I saw the first loss to Michigan at Happy Valley on a cold rainy day. I think we should saw Michigan off and let it drift over to Canada, that's what I think.

And I'm not too fond of Iowa either. Nothing but a big old corn silo!

Oh well, less than a month to another ACC biscuitball season. Go Wahoos!

I hope the Iowa Chamber of Commerce never finds out what you're saying about Iowa to the rest of the country. That would be one amazing libel suit.

Whatever drugs you’re on, Dunadan, I want some. Florida State should have beat Miami and Florida just plain got crushed. Who would have thought that in one year’s time the mighty Florida GATORS would have gone from finishing #3 in the nation to almost unranked? The coach’s poll was kind to Florida by ranking them 24. For the first time ever, Dunadan, I gotta agree with you. Florida IS over ranked. Florida’s offense is even more pathetically inept than one of the big twelve offenses.

Chili, I feel your pain. It looks as if those dirty dawgs will finally end twenty years of frustration. It’s good for the league to have some new blood in the east, but it doesn’t stop the disappointment. Tennessee still has to play Miami, and Florida will be lucky if it wins another game. Florida has managed a whopping 21 points in its two games against Mississippi and LSU. The once high-powered GATOR attack looks more like attack of the killer tomatoes. How we were able to beat Tennessee is a mystery to me.

I suppose I will have to adjust myself like the fans of other once powerful teams. Nothing stays the same, things change. It’s just difficult to accept such a completely drastic change. Florida sucks. Which, I’m sure, does not come as a surprise to those who never liked Florida in the first place.

Hope somebody saw my post and got their bets down in time. The Pittsburgh game was a draw but my other two picks were losers, again. I haven’t had any insight for picking against the spread this year. My prediction: The Football God is going down in flames this year. Anybody want to bet against me?

I feel your pain arc. I guess we're both members of the, used to have a ball dynasty club. At least my club now has a coach. It didn't take us but 20 years, with 7 wonderful years of Stallings in between. That just gave us a taste of the promised land. Look on the bright side, you're playing Auburn this weekend.
dayhiker
7:26:44 AM
10/14/02

Well arc, as painful as it is, it wasn't unexpected. I was afraid that UT would get a worse whipping than they did.

Look at it this way....more play out of special teams and we could have won. Avoid the safety, make the extra point and hit the 40 yarder and bingo, we would have been in.

Then again, if a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his @ss on the ground every time he hopped.

At this point, it wouldn't surprise me to lose to Bama, Miami, and Kentucky. Music City Bowl might be our best shot this year.

I'm still not convinced about Georgia this year. We go in without our starting QB, RB, and punter and barely lose. We basically had two TD's taken away with penalites. We miss an extra point and get a field goal blocked. We wind up having to go for 2 because of the extra point getting blocked. That adds up to 19 points that we pissed away from our own doing. UT comes in with the most banged up team I think I can ever remember anyone having. They have QB by committe with freshman and still have a chance to win. The SC and Clemson games were both close. In a normal year Florida would be there to slap some reality into the situation.

On the other hand, they may be like our '92 team that did nothing but win ugly. We were the most awful top ten team in history...right up until we smacked Miami in the mouth. I'm sure every team we played that year wasn't convinced and said that we would get our comupance.

Dayhiker I'm still not sold on UGA either. The only thing I can say good about UGA is that they never seem to beat themselves, which is to be expected a senior/junior team. For the first time the SEC East looks like it might turn out to resemble the SEC West with no clear dominant teams. Although UGA is in the driver’s seat, in a few weeks I still expect UF to make a final stand in the name of pride against UGA and win. IMO LSU appears to be the closest thing the SEC has to the real deal. The speed of their game as a whole looks a year beyond any other SEC opponent.

I still felt really good after Saturday's loss to UGA. Looks like we've got a great upcoming QB who will pressure Clausen for the starting role even this year and you're always in the game if the defense plays as well as Saturday. Now if we can just get a new offensive coordinator and a secondary coach.

The worst thing that could've happened for UT's long term offensive success was for Sanders to come out of the FSU game smelling like a rose. That has bought him a 4 year grace period. It looks like the honeymoon is over.
