Even though it's common knowlege where those folks came from, I wouldn't have expected a toothless Tennessee (the school that produced the worst coach in Florida history, Doug Dickey) grad to have thought of those people on his own.

Talk about hotties like Erin Andrews, there was a rumor that one TV station was going to hire a female Tennessee grad as an announcer, but the bill for full dental implants and waxing all the hair off her back would have been prohibitive.

Gonna have your Tennessee alum Porta-Potti buddies over to watch the games tomorrow? Better remind them to take a bath first. They won't think of it on their own.




Another great game and it's early in the season.

Marshall was doing so well in trying to achieve their first ever victory against West Virginia until West Virginia drove for 98 yards at the end to tie the game. Although it was a great drive, I was disappointed to see Marshall go into a “Prevent Victory” (as Lou Holtz calls it) defense.

I’ve seen so many games lost using that stupid “Prevent Victory” defense. You’d think defensive coordinators would have come up with something better than puckering their butts and backing off the pressure. It’s failed so many times.

And it failed tonight as Marshall lost in OT.

Oh well. It was a very exciting game to watch.”

“The f'd themselves with that soft zone coverage on that last drive, come on, rush 4-5 pple against the rattled QB and finish the game. Poor Marshal, I just love that their cheerleaders outfits say "THE HERD" all over them.”

“The thing I hate most about that defense is that it negates everything I love about college football. Those kids play on confidence, passion, and momentum.

Although West Virginia had come back before that last drive, Marshall hadn't lost all the momentum. Marshall's defense had played well for most of the game by being aggressive. When you call that prevent victory defense you're almost telling your kids that you have lost confidence in the way they've played all game.

I don't ever like to see that defense but West Virginia had almost 3 minutes in which to operate, so it was also too early to call that defense. That's plenty of time to run a 2 minute offense when the defense backs off into prevent.

If the offense starts chewing off chunks of middle-distance gains, the defense falls back on it's heels and confidence starts to drain. The offense gains confidence and momentum. You can see it. I've seen it many times.


If I had been rooting for West Virginia I might feel differently but it's still a sad way to lose a game.”

Florida was very balanced in the first half: Bad offense and bad defense. And they were consistent with the details too: Bad passing, bad running, bad run defense, bad pass defense, bad snaps, bad blocking, bad QB decisions, bad special teams, bad field goal kicking, bad defensive line play, back linebacker play, bad secondary play, and bad discipline (penalties).

Ya gotta love Deeropsee Thompson. Deonte Thompson (the #1 rated receiver out of HS) made a special effort this offseason to cure his image as someone who can’t hang onto the ball this year. Apparently it was a short-bus special effort.

These boys won’t last in the top 10 for long playing like this. Dayhiker, you may want to plan a nice nap, or a trip with the family, for Oct. 2. It looks to be a boring day unless you enjoy running up the score and humiliating inferior teams.

We all know that Chili’s a little slow. He wasn’t ready to trust the evidence that South Carolina has a pretty good team this year. Maybe he’s ready to kick start his brain this week. Hopefully he doesn’t wait until his team is bent over squealing like pigs before he finally realizes, “Hey, South Carolina ain’t bad this year.””

Unfortunately, at this point, I don't think the team that shows up will make much of a game out of it.

Alabama looks good, Dayhiker. They really look like they have a legitimate chance to repeat.

Being old and out of shape, those Cheetos take their toll on me towards the evening. I didn't watch the entire Alabama/Penn St game. But I loved the little special they did on Richardson. The guy is an animal in the weight room. What a blessing to have two Mack Trucks in the backfield this year. Those guys are just beasts to tackle. What a great balanced attack Bama has this year.

I'm afraid... very afraid.




I also didn't make the end of the Tennessee/Oregon game. I was really hoping that Tennessee would return the favor having been so rudely treated on recent visits to the west coast. But I turned the game off before it gave me nightmares.

Some would call Janoris Jenkins electric. After a weekend fight with the cops and subsequent tazing, they'd be right.

Over the weekend, University of Florida Gator cornerback Janoris Jenkins became the 24th university of Florida football player to be arrested under Urban Meyer's watch. It is the 6th Gator arrest in a year.

Jenkins was apparently fighting with some other citizens in Gainesville at 2AM when the cops showed up. They told Jenkins to stop, and he then proceeded to punch another man. Police then proceeded to taze Jenkins, who then fled the scene, despite officers yelling at him to stop running. He was apprehended a few blocks away from the scene.
