35 years of buying my own tickets to sit in Florida Field (The Swamp) to watch Florida play. In 35 years I have never seen anything like today’s game.

Does 14 total yards at the half signify a pathetic offense? I think not. Calling Florida’s offense pathetic is like calling Kate Beckinsale attractive. I’d be happy to finish in the top 100 with an offense like that.




How about Florida State running up the score on Samford? What an obvious example of a mean and evil coach trying to embarrass the other team. I expect much media attention on this subject followed by fan outrage.

How about Georgia running up the score on Louisiana-Lafayette? What an obvious example of a mean and evil coach trying to embarrass the other team. I expect much media attention on this subject followed by fan outrage.

Oklahoma struggling with Utah St? Apparently, a number of teams needed this first scrimage to iron out "first game jitters." I can only hope that's what it was for Florida or we'll finish out of the top 25. It's hard to fathom 14 total yards in the first half and 26 total yards going into the fourth quarter. I can't wait to watch Meyer's show at 12 today.




Florida will need a scrimage against South Florida just to stay within 20 points of Tennessee because Dooley is an obvious example of a mean and evil coach who will embarrass the other team by running up the score.

Chili must have hope now. And we can't let that happen to someone who so obviously revels in running up the score to embarrass the other team.

Apparently not all of us know that, XL. It's not as obvious to the media nor to the media masses, XL. And you are missing the inconsistency of the way some folks think about the issue.

For the media, their position is consistent inconsistency. They try to whip up the emotions of weak willed individuals in the hopes of selling their product.

Why the media masses keep buying that product I'll never know. Maybe they're bored.


We can understand how the media can be without consistent values because they're mostly leftists. But the fact is that it's not obvious to people who keep buying the media product that they have an inconsistent philosophy based on wherever their emotions take them today.


When some teams, like Oregon, score lots of points against lesser opponents, some folks don't give it a second thought. When other teams score lots of points (especially when it's against your team), it's cause for criticism.

When some coaches (such as Tom Osborn) run their offense and score lots of points throughout the game, some folks don't give it a second thought. When other coaches run their offense and score lots of points throughout the game, it's because they are a mean and evil person trying to embarrass the other team.


It always depends on which team was doing the scoring, which team was getting scored upon, and/or how much attention the media pays to the issue. THAT much is obvious.

Because I was watching ESPN where a pundit made sure to point of Tennessee's off-field troubles this year as part of a slam on the SEC.

What I didn't hear was any mention of this:

In a real-life reenactment of The Hustler, Brown was "swimming in glory" like the born loser George C. Scott talked about in The Hustler.

He got so cocky that his play became sloppy, his decisions worse, and his collapse total.

Too bad about Miss St, Stove, but it was a great game for a detached fan. It was a tough defensive battle and this fan likes tough defense.

I've always liked Miss St because they usually play the Gators tough. But we don't have much history. I've always liked Auburn because the yearly Florida-Auburn game used to be smash-mouth football at its best.

So for this detached fan it was fun to watch with nothing to lose.

It was interesting to see how the few (compared to Florida) bad snaps took Miss St out of their rhythm. I hope Mike Pouncey was watching.

Mullen took some chances. I hope he'll be a good coach for y'all. But he was coaching against another former Gator, Gene Chizik.

The crucial difference in the game was probably that the waterboy for Miss St didn't keep the players hydrated well enough. He was most likely from Tennessee. That's about all a Tennessee grad is qualified for.
