"WOW! What's not to love about that?"
Yes, you're correct. Northern winters are great! Ice fishing, iceboating, iceskating, snow mobiling, snowmen, snowballs, warm clothing, ... There's nothing like a nice hike in fresh snow. It's all great.

There's also nothing like a swim in the arctic ocean. There's nothing like shoveling three feet of wet snow at 6am to get to work on icy roads that have been salted or sanded. And there's certainly nothing like shoving an ice pick up your nose.

And Arc, the best weather to play football is in Kansas. You start out the season passing out from the heat and humidity and you end up the season looking for your frozen fingers that snapped off during the game. It makes a real man out of you.

No thanks, Dunadan, I’ll pass.

I’m already a real man. I’ve been burned, shot, stabbed, crashed a motorcycle, and been laid once. But what really made me a man was when I graduated from an SEC school. It just doesn’t get any more manly than that.

KU rocks, chalks, and Jayhawks all over UTEP.
(Back in the 90's, during a basketball season where KU had plenty of talent to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament, they lost to UTEP in the second round. The saying for several years afterward was, "How do you kill a Jayhawk? UTEP on it."
I was worried that folks would be saying that again, after today's football game. However, the defense really shone and Jake Sharp made some good runs.
Congratulations to Nigal. That freshman QB looks great. A lot of composure in a big game.
Also, congratulations to the Chippewas, (Central Mich.) Taking down the green team.

It's not running up the score anymore since Spurrier left Florida, hyway.

Current usage seems to favor the term "style points."

Yeah, like the only good team the dink-10 has had over the past few years, Ohio State, has been "dominate." Or shall we say dominated?

How many different dink-10 teams have won championships over the past 20 years?

How 'bout that "Battle-of-the-Century" between Ohio State and Michigan? Surely those were the two most dominate teams in the nation and proved it in a public forum with everyone in the country watching?

We can ignore the obvious grammatical errors because the factual errors are so egregious.

All you dink-10 weenies can do is whine like little babies because all the sports pundits have jumped on the "Big-10 Sucks" bandwagon. Yessir, you can't turn on a broadcast or read an article without seeing the pundits kick the dink-10 while they're down.

During the 21st Century, Florida’s schedule has ranked in the top 20 for seven out of nine years. It has ranked in the top 10 for six out of nine years. Top 3 for five out of nine years. Top two toughest in the nation for four out of nine years.

Can anyone name a top program that comes close to Florida’s schedule strength? USC, Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, and Ohio State aren’t even close.

I agree with dayhiker, Opie. Except for the part where he projects his insecurity.

I think McElroy will be fine. I think his deal is more with starting inexperience. His decision making looks good and I think it will only improve. And Alabama has a better supporting cast. Their line, running backs, and receivers are probably all better than what Tennessee brings. That will help McElroy gain confidence.

Crompton has been around long enough not to be making the sort of dumb reads he did against UCLA. Seriously, how feakin' tough was UCLA's defense compared to what Tennessee is going to see Saturday?

It's always hard to tell early in the season but I think this may be one of Florida's best defenses... ever. Which means they're going to be one of the best defenses nationally.

I can’t wait to see the matchup between lines. If Crompton gets happy feet Saturday, he’s gonna make some ugly decisions. And most pundits rate Florida's secondary as the best in the nation.

According to Lindy's it's the SEC's best defensive line against the seventh best o-line.

According to Phil Steel it's the nation's #2 defensive line, #2 linebacking corp, and #2 secondary against an offense that doesn't rank in the top 20 for quarterback, running backs, line, or receivers.

Last year Florida had a +22 turnover margin. I know they'd like to improve on that this year.

Good lord the initial betting line is 29. THAT is ugly.

So far, McElroy has thrown for 230 and 240 I believe. I read after the opener that JPW never threw for 230 in a single game in 2008. Our rookie QB threw for more yardage against VT than our outgoing 3 year starter threw for in any game in 08. JPW had tunnel vision. He didn't know how to check down. McElroy seems to be doing just fine to me.

UGA campus after the last home game

Taken last Saturday on the University of Georgia campus in Athens, GA.

This was the same site I saw after last years UA/UGA game in Athens.

UT will be Florida's third creampuff in a row.

You guys must be proud of yourselves by now. Opening with those three games must make you feel 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Gee, I don't know why they just don't cancel this season and send the trophy down to Gainsville by FedEx. Forget the Heisman, just declare Tebow to be the Grand Poobah and get it over with.

Wounded Knee, Meyer is a moral man and believes in his marriage vows. You won't be able to convince him to do that...unlike all those other coaches you have convinced.

Chili, that's a sad attempt at projection. There is nothing good about playing Tennessee. There is no honor in beating a pathetic opponent into the ground.

Children, just as the typical Tennessee player, are unable to defend themselves and should not be harmed. Women, just as the typical Tennessee football player, lack the strength to defend themselves against a trained warrior.

Chili, the shame comes in just agreeing to play a team like Tennessee. I imagine the Florida staff will be busy on Saturday carrying out the dead players and fans who have committed seppuku.

FL may well have the best defense in the country - but to declare such after playing the two teams they've played so far THIS season is ridiculous.

There has been no measuring stick put up against the team so far.

Tennessee will be outmanned this week, but at least it looked like it had the chance to be a fair fight when it was scheduled many months ago - quite unlike the first two games FL set up for themselves.

That picture of UGA's campus is simply disgusting.
