One of my past favorites was the "running up the score" idiocy. Remember that bandwagon? Because in 2006 the bandwagon changed to "Florida doesn't deserve a shot at Ohio State because they didn't score enough style points."

Florida/Charleston Southern is on SUN/FSN network. Fortunately, it's at the same time as Bama/VT or else I would have been viewing the progress of my lawn greenery at that time.

I've got nothing against Kiffin, chili. I don't like it when people lie but I forgive you for saying this:

I've never met Kiffin so I have no basis for disliking the man...except for lying. But then it seems many folks dislike honesty so I may be in the minority.


In 2006, the media bandwagon was all about what a jerk Meyer was for honestly answering a question about who he thought should be playing in the 2006 BCS game.

How dare he give his honest opinion? The media’s been sucking up Bobby Bowden’s “aw shucks” lies for years. We can’t have an honest opinion from a coach. How could the media stand for that, especially when it contradicts their storyline?

They were all about Florida’s lack of “style points” and Kirk Herbsteit was leading the media crusade for a Michigan/Ohio State rematch. What a jerk Meyer was for giving his honest opinion when answering a question instead of deferring to the media by saying, “That’s for you media boys to figure out.”

Of course Urban Meyer rubs people the wrong way. Isn’t it evil to give your honest opinion when asked a direct question? How can you like a guy like that? Anyone who has stated many times that he believes in family, education, and the well-being of his players BEFORE winning football games is a totally arrogant jerk! And I don’t even have to meet the guy to know that.

Read my post above again, XL. I expect injuries. We can also expect that they won't be as devastating as it would be to most teams. But luck surely plays a part in a great season.

I'm more worried about the mentality of having a target and having excessive pride. Florida is lucky in that Tebow and Spikes are two of the finest senior leaders in college football. That helps but it ain't no gaurentee.

I was totally shocked to watch Georgia go down last year. But then not many folks really paid attention to how loaded Alabama was becoming and had amnesia about how good Saban is. Everybody knew Florida would be tough for Georgia and Florida was unburdened with the expectations placed on Georgia. Paul Johnson is a good coach and got Georgia Tech into rivalry mode. By then, I think Georgia was somewhat demoralized.

But life's pretty good when you can complain about a 10-3 season including a bowl win.
