On campus until painted over at daybreak

One thing's for sure, few UT fans are drinking the koolaid. Never have I seen this number of fans demanding a change.

Do yourself a favor and don’t think too much, Dayhiker. You’re an embarrassment to yourself. Your team is embarrassing enough all by itself.

Why don’t you tell dayhiker about the fine tradition at Army, Geobeet. He'll understand.

I truly miss those yearly Auburn/Florida games, OPIE. They were always hard-hitting intense battles that often came down to the end. Auburn fans were always cool, win or lose. But if you’ve got to have only one permanent opponent from the east… BEAT JAWJA!

...maybe not. Dang, I've still got that sensation.

chili - I'll bring the talk from the b-ball thread back over here. We were counting up potential losses for UT this year and it doesn't look good. The thing about Phil is he's been remarkably consistant over the years. When Bama has a bad team, they really, really have sucked of late. Dubose had a 4-7 and 3-8 season. Shula had 4-9 his first year and maybe 6-6 the 2nd and 3rd. We were 6-7 last year. Dubose, Shula, and fRan each gave us a 10-3 which was just enough of a glimmer of home to keep us anticipating being back. I think finally having a coach with a pair of nuts is going to bring us back for good. My definition of back, though, is that we regularly compete for a trip to Atlanta and actually win it every so often. When that happens, it puts us in play for the big prize. That definition of back is probably in the minority though.

So i'll be tailgating in enemy territory Saturday. I'll be at gameday, and right off Meyer's Quad or whatever UGA calls it. They are dressing in their finest funeral garb, and we'll be wearing white. I'm just not sure if I'll have the oval with the tiger eyes on the front, or the "angry" elephant on the back. who cares, i'll have a blue miller can in my hand, and a flask of jim in my pocket.

USC is becoming the New York Yankees (of the past few years) of college football...

On paper they should win it all, but when it comes to going out and doing it.....

Looks like once again they will be watching someone else play for the BCS title..

Didn't see that one coming. I was convinced that USC had it all wrapped up. This is why the actual game is so much better than the hype. Even 10 pages of hype on Florida ( hi, Arc!) isn't as good as watching them play. The College Football Season just got a lot more interesting. AND, my Jayhawks are still in contention for the national title with their one loss.

What is it with those Mississippi teams? They often seem to outplay the Gators. At least USC put up a fight. Except for Percy, Florida looked like they were on Prozac.

Oh my God! My team lost.

Mine's not looking so good at the moment either.

Bama just got their fieldgoal (if that's not a single word - it should be).

I'm sickened. I came straight to the computer so's to seek consolege (if that's not a word - it should be) from my TT family - none of whom will see this for probably a fortnight (I know that's a word, I just don't know how long of a period it is) based on the decline in TT usage.

Actually, I grabbed another beer from the fridge before I came in here. But then - beyoink! - I came straight to the computer, and my TT family (after checking that Belle and Giz had not "rund off" toward the street or wherever as a result of my yelling and cussing at my other dogs).

So after sliding my drawing bench (holds keyboard, mouse, and speaker while onlining) clockwise a piece so's to get a straight line of sight to the TV in the living room, then going for an ashtray and another beer, I came to you, my - Jesus help me! Bama scored again!

I lied. I wasn't glued. There was all sorts of stuff to do on the computer so I didn't even turn on the TV until about 9:30.

I settled back with my limeade and turned on the game. Then I blinked. Then I blinked longer to wet my eyes and refocus. I stared at that funny looking score on my 60” HD screen long enough to convince myself I really didn’t need to put on my glasses.

31-0!!! Holy butt-kicking!

Jawja just kicked a field goal but I’m going to bed. No way can Jawja come back from this mauling.

Bama is for real for sure.

Being 9-6 against the spread so far this year I could have made some money if I was actually betting money. A major factor in my betting is psychological. This is college football after all. After looking at all the practical stats like receiving/pass defense, rushing/rush defense, and injury reports, I try to figure in who has more incentive. I try to figure out the psychological makeup of each team. Going 9-6 (against the spread, not just picking winners) shows me I’m fairly successful.

So, to add my armchair 2 cents, what in the world was Meyer thinking? The guy’s supposed to have a degree in psychology. Well, maybe that explains it all.

After the Miami game, when questioned about leaving Tebow in for the entire game instead of giving the backups some practice, Meyer was quoted as saying that he “…doesn’t think too well in those situations. I just want to get the win and get out of there. I probably should have.”

Yeah, he probably should have. This week I’m starting to become really puzzled about some of his game day decisions and how the team gets motivated from week to week. USC transfer Emmanuel Moody was having some success early, enough to provide good balance for the offense. He averaged 5.3 yards per carry. UF was the only team in college football not have a turnover before the Mississippi game. Tebow was having a bad day. It was obvious that he was thinking about having tea and crumpets instead of keeping his head in the game making good decisions. But he was doing well with the short pass routes where he didn’t have to think about checking off.

So what happens?-

Moody was absent in the second half. Instead it became the Percy Harvin show.

UF had 5 turnovers and lost three Saturday.

UF gained some momentum and offensive team rhythm on their second-to-last drive when they scored a touchdown. They did it with balance and short passing. On the last series of the last drive, with a good chance to win the game with a field goal, Meyer seemed to put the entire game on Tebow’s shoulders by letting him air the ball out. UF only needed about 15-20 more yards to get into field goal range. They had been chewing up 8-10 yard chunks on that drive and had enough time left to go those few yards. On their last series, UF called two plays where the receivers were wide open and Tebow overthrew both long passes. After a 7.5 yard run, that left the game hinging on a 4th and 2.5 which they gave to Tebow and they screwed it up.

All UF needed to do was to continue what they had been successful at for their last two drives and they would have been in field goal range. The entire team had contributed to that effort. Instead, Meyer seemed to put the outcome on one man, a struggling Tim Tebow, letting him air out two badly thrown long passes while wasting valuable plays and yardage. What about the team?

That’s my 2 cents as an armchair coach. I don’t understand it and I’ll be curious to hear what Meyer has to say today.

It’s easy to engage in this sort of second-guessing after your teams loses isn’t it, Chili, Hyway, Nigal, Violin, Buddha, et. al. …?

Good lord. Chili, maybe we all ought to leave the country. Can you imagine those insufferably arrogant Alabama fans, whose #1 tradition is to live off the glory of their ancestors, if their team becomes good again? With all the young talent they’ve got, and a great coach, my guess is we’ll have to be listening to their boastful pride for years to come. I’m think Zanzibar might be nice.

(live from athens) we were on campus from 10am-1am

1. it was a blackout...not many bama fans
2. UGA trashes its campus while tailgating, garbage everywhere, it looked disgusting...we'd never do this to our quad, AU doesn't do this, UF definately doesn't. Come on UGA, have some respect for your own home. I saw the ALABAMA pple cleaning up in disgust.
3. the bars cleared about 10 minutes after halftime
4. Fans - lots of sore losers, some just stunned, the rest just classless
5. UGA doesn't have alot of older alumni on the campus, 90% 26-31 year olds
6. i think their campus is 3 miles long and has the elevation gain/loss going N-S as the Appalacian trail in Tennessee

going to rub it back in downtown for lunch, watch the news..michelle might get me jumped
