We were tailgateing on the Quad yesterday right by the mound. I was looking for you the whole time but,I did't have your phone number. We had a great time with some of our BAMA friends. Friday night we ate at Chuck's Fish and went to the Coppertop Bar. Saturday we started out at the Houndstooth then met up with some folks on the Quad. The atmosphere in the stadium was great. Crisp cool clear weather and SEC football are hard to beat. LSU 1 Nick 0” 2:08:06 PM 11/04/07 “What the hell happened to Nebraska? The Cornhuskers got corn-holed by a one sport school.” 4:30:47 PM 11/04/07 “Played the team with the worst defense in the conference and managed a whopping 9 points.” 5:07:55 PM 11/04/07 “Glad you had fun. It was a heck of a game. To be that close to a win and then to let it slip away. We took advantage of your miscues to get ahead and then you took advantage of ours to get the win. The better team did win though.” 6:31:26 PM 11/04/07 76 points! “What with last year's Cinderella struggling to make it into a no-name bowl, I think I'll root for KU to run the tables and make it into the championship game. I still need to know what a Jayhawk is though. It looks like a retarded crow, but I assume that can't be right.” 4:35:37 AM 11/05/07 Almost “Wisconsin did good in the first half, holding Ohio State to 7 points and and a 7-3 lead most of the first half. The half ended at 10-3. But in the third quarter Wisconsin tied the game and then quickly went ahead 17-10. Oh happy day! But they must have made Ohio State mad because four touchdowns by Ohio State produced their victorius lead of 38-17 and the Badgers left the field with their tails dragging between their legs!” 5:20:31 AM 11/05/07 “Hey, Violin, I got yer crow in my pants!!!! It's too overwhelming to think about anything other than playing Oklahoma State next Saturday in Stillwater. So, all of the folks cheering the Jayhawks, (one of the great mascots of ALL times...), it is sincerely appreciated. You know, of course, that if Kansas loses one game this season, they will be dropped in the polls like a hot potato. It used to happen to K-State all the time. When your school is in a sparsely populated state and has little football tradition, the sports writers tend to dismiss you easily. So.... there's no reason to get hopeful just yet. Oklahoma State and Missouri could ruin the perfect season. And Iowa State has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Let's see how it all plays out. I notice there are two one-loss teams ranked ahead of KU.” 6:59:30 AM 11/05/07 “Is there room on the bandwagon for one more? What color should I wear?” 7:03:54 AM 11/05/07 “If the Jayhawks win the final three final regular games season games and the Big 12 championship game, they'll have gone through two highly ranked teams (Missouri and Oklahoma - assuming the Sooners don't fall apart) and they definitely could end up in the championship game with Ohio State (assuming OSU keeps winning) - and then I'll have to admit to near-sightedness in saying I don't see any major obstacles for LSU.” 3:55:00 PM 11/05/07 “Hyway, we are partial to blue in these parts. No not baby blue like in NC but Jayhawk Blue. You can also get by with Crimson because it is the other official color of the Jayhawks. ALL ABOARD!!!!!” 4:27:21 PM 11/05/07 “if it were the baby blue I would have to call you a walmart nancy boy. :) I can live with just regular blue.” 4:59:38 PM 11/05/07 “WOW! Dunadan on top of the football world. It's something I didn't expect to see.” 6:22:39 AM 11/06/07 “Does this mean his basketball team is going to suck?” 6:23:30 AM 11/06/07 “Dayhiker, I think they are like UK & never completely suck at bball.” 6:26:06 AM 11/06/07 “Ahhh, Arky. Good to hear from you. I think the seeds to this season were sown when the Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk chant was heard on the Ozark Trail some years ago. I know what you and Dayhiker mean though. This is some crazy season. There is so much excitement about the football team, that very few people in town are even talking about that other sport. (However, don't worry. Kansas will be dominant in basketball this season, also.)” 8:49:34 AM 11/06/07 “Michigan State, Purdue, Penn St. are all at the same level as a Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas and Alabama. ~BB BOL!” 1:00:56 PM 11/06/07 “dude, wrong log in ;) hey Arky, is Butch Davis coming yall's way at season end?” 1:04:51 PM 11/06/07 “Michigan State, Purdue, Penn St. are all at the same level as a ....... ~BB ...maybe....and that's a big maybe...at the same level of the SEC's MSU.” 1:06:26 PM 11/06/07 “Hyway, Nobody knows yet but he is good friends with the Tysons. The ones of the chicken fame. Most people here just want Nutt gone.” 2:51:44 PM 11/06/07 “Michigan State, Purdue, Penn St. are all at the same level as a Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas and Alabama. ~BB credibility - gone.... dude do you WATCH football games?” 3:02:39 PM 11/06/07 “.....credibility - gone.... dude do you WATCH football games?” Roam Around 5:02:39 PM When did BB have any cred? Remember last year?” 4:26:24 PM 11/06/07 “Arky, I am an NC State alum. Davis currently coaches at UNC. Its his first year there and it would be funny as hell if he bolted for Arkansas after all those blue fairies emptied their piggy banks to get. Its fun to keep the rumor going because not only does it impact their recruiting but its just pure fun to see those clippity cloppers come running over our board to tell us what bull the rumors are.” 4:44:25 PM 11/06/07 “Let me be the first to say that IFFF LSU and OSU play in the title game that OSU will win. I always pull for the conference teams but the difference in discipline between the two teams is huge. If the fighting Mangino's win out then it might not matter.” 5:37:10 AM 11/07/07 “I'll tell you who are on the same level as Michigan State, Purdue, Penn St, etc, is Missouri, Kansas State, Texas Tech, and KANSAS. These are all halfass teams who have enough talent to get on a roll, but will piss all over themselves when it counts. These are teams that will get you excited and then break your heart. They don't have the depth or heart to hang with the big boys. DON'T BUY THE HYPE. But I can't help myself from pulling for Mizzou (has never had a real defense) and Kansas (has never had a quality recruit). Just a hopeless romantic I guess.” 6:07:29 AM 11/07/07 “BCS wannabes and the presidential candidates they most resemble Ohio State: Hillary Clinton The Buckeyes don't make waves. They go out of their way not to be controversial, including not scheduling anyone this season who could beat them. They hope to bland their way to the nomination. LSU: Rudy Giuliani The Tigers are strong on defense, and their fans aggressively promote their qualifications. They gloss over their past missteps, hoping everyone focuses on their willingness to take on anybody. Oregon: John Edwards A good-looking team with an engaging personality, but the Ducks' stance on defensive issues is wanting. Do they have the substance to go all the way? Oklahoma: Barack Obama Here's a team that looks like BCS material, and it has all the resources in the world. But its potential continues to outweigh its performance. Maybe the next race? Kansas: Mike Huckabee A plucky candidate that can't get anyone to pay attention, the Jayhawks keep hanging around, charming people and slowly moving their way up the polls. West Virginia: Mitt Romney The Mountaineers have great numbers and a wide-open attack, but they have done nothing to assure the voters they have the gravitas to make it to the top. USC: Fred Thompson The Trojans get a bump from their Hollywood connection, but once they got on the stump, they looked nothing at all like a BCS candidate. Hawaii: Ron Paul No matter how the Warriors perform, no matter how much support they drum up among the public, the opinion-makers never will take them seriously. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/notebook?page=gamedayFinal0710 last edited: 11/07/07 11:38:30 AM” 11:37:06 AM 11/07/07 “I don't know why anyone in the country would be excited about being at the same level as Tennessee. We are mediocre at best.” 11:40:59 AM 11/07/07 “I've noticed that the Vols are always beyyer when CHILI is SINGLE, and hangin' with the boys in the HMWH Club! just an observation, I'm sure there is no connection.” 1:56:07 PM 11/07/07 “BOL! Go Dawgs bwt!” 2:02:11 PM 11/07/07 Yo! Toe. “Here's a small history lesson for you, toejam. Although for many years, Kansas has played with no-name players, the school does have some great players in its past. Gale Sayers went on to play for Chicago Bears. My favorite running back of all time. John Riggins went on to play for the Washington Redskins and helped them win a Super Bowl. Bobby Douglass played for Chicago Bears. Dana Stubblefield played for San Francisco 49'ers as a great defensive lineman. Nolan Cromwell played with the LA Rams and is a multiple season pro-bowler. Just an FYI.....” 8:26:01 PM 11/07/07 post from above continued “..... and Dorothy went on to conquer Oz!” 1:43:11 AM 11/08/07 “Nolan Cromwell was a bowler? I thought he played football.” 5:25:19 AM 11/08/07 “Dun, Kurt Warner played for Northern Iowa. The point is the highly sought high schoolers are not going to Kansas. Chase Daniel went to Mizzou when the folks at Texas pissed him off, so sometimes Cinderella gets the prince.” 6:36:28 AM 11/08/07 “When comparing the storied history of which conference won what when, I might suggest you pause to remember that the SEC did not intergrate until, like, 1990, and it was then that our beloved Conference found it's high gear that German and Japanese automotive engineers are just now beginning to understand. last edited: 11/08/07 2:59:17 PM” 2:57:14 PM 11/08/07 “Sorry Geobeet.” 8:50:14 PM 11/09/07 “(#22) Alabama 12, Mississippi State 17 :-)” 2:38:05 PM 11/10/07 “10 of the 12 SEC teams are bowl eligible right now. Eat It, big 10! ;-)” 2:50:38 PM 11/10/07 “Ohio State gets beat by an unranked team. 28-21 LOL Losers start crap in the field at the end. Real classy.” 3:28:29 PM 11/10/07 The Big Ten Is Football. “ On Wisconsin. 8:45:48 PM 11/10/07 “Actually, Dayhiker, the NCAA considers Florida to be a “football dynasty.” Bama hasn’t been as consistently highly ranked as Florida during your lifetime. But how can the NCAA and statistics compare with your opinion anyway? After all you’re the guy who thinks: "Let me be the first to say that IFFF LSU and OSU play in the title game that OSU will win" Dayhiker Bwaaaaaaahahahahahaha. That ranks right up there with Channing Crowder’s statement. ROCK…CHALK…JAYHAWK! Man, I’ll bet Dunadan is out celebrating big-time! To think that Kansas has a shot at the mythical national championship…IN FOOTBALL? It’s a big time in Kansas tonight. Dunadan’s probably out drinkin’ and dancing.’ Oh yeah…he’s a mid-westerner. Scratch that; he’s probably out cow-tipping. Stovie’s gotta be a happy man. He’ll be traveling to a bowl! Let’s hope it’s not in some crappy place like Michigan or Ohio. OH MY GOSH! It’s an amazing occurrence! Just imagine! The big ten title will be decided when Michigan plays Ohio St. By gosh we hardly ever see that! Unless you count year, after year, after year, after year, after year, … The real reason the big-ten doesn’t have a championship game (although they’ll never admit it) is that it would be redundant. Only a moron believes a two-team conference is strong. I watched both Michigan/Wisconsin and Ohio St./Illinois. I’ve seen better peewee league teams. But it was interesting seeing both teams exposed BEFORE they actually play a bowl game. SEC reject Zook may become the greatest coach in the big-ten. Meanwhile the SEC has 10 eligible bowl teams (with the possibility of 11). Nobody has a lock on the conference title until we stop beating the snot out of each other. And the SEC actually has some teams that are worthy of playing for the mythical national championship game once again. Have you ever looked upon anything as ugly as an Ohio St. fan? As the cameras panned the crowds it became obvious that those are the saddest looking trailer trash rejects I’ve ever seen. They looked like a bunch of gulag Russians. What a bunch of apparatchiks and babushkas. What a sad, run-down, worn-out, collection of humanity. At least we don’t have to listen to how great is the overrated team from Ohio State. And I’m gonna write in to ask the TV stations to hire announcers with an IQ over 50 if I hear how Ohio State has the greatest defense in college football one more time. They play in the big-ten for God’s sake! Their “AWESOME” defense dropped their Telletubby diapers last year. How much empirical evidence is enough to shut these morons up? Every year they rev up their little energizer bunny mouths and keep repeating BS. One of the sorriest sights in college football is watching an over-hyped, overrated, #1 big-ten team lose to an unranked under-achiever. Ohio State sucks. They got Zooked. We can only hope the media doesn’t come to their emotional rescue. They don’t deserve to waste the space of a more deserving team in a good bowl. NUFF SAID!” 9:16:31 PM 11/10/07 “arclite - Congratulations to you on your recovery. I was worried about you. BTW, how is Florida U. doing this season? I guess they were lucky and did not have to play ASU.” 9:50:27 PM 11/10/07 “Go Retarded Crows!... err Jayhawks or whatever... I'll get the knack...” 9:03:48 AM 11/11/07 “Yessiree, slim! I was worried too. I just hadn't been feeling very obnoxious lately. But having come back, let me notify you that you’re on my list. I bet Wisconsin to cover the spread two times this year. Each game they didn’t live up to preseason hype and stunk up the field. This week I go and bet Michigan to cover the spread and Wisconsin plays their best game of the year. “On Wisconsin” my ass! Florida is having a slightly worse season than I expected, slim. That defense really is young and Meyer had been afraid to let them go to man. That soft zone just wasn't cutting it. We clearly saw how the soft zone doesn't work against a good team when Florida shredded Ohio State's young defense last year. I'm not sure what Tressel and Meyer are thinking but, when you're as good as Tressel and Meyer, I certainly won't question how you want to develop your players. Florida is starting to play more man now. We loaded up on talent in the secondary over the past two recruiting classes. They’re just young. Major Wright is an animal! Considering he’s a true freshman, we won’t have many worries at safety for a couple of years anyway. Then there are injuries. We've been banged up all year. Somebody good has been injured every week. Part of that is luck and part of that is playing in a conference where every single game is a war. The SEC traditionally has had games decided by the fewest points. It's hard to take out your starters, protect them from late game injuries, and give your backups experience, when it's a close game. Close games are probably why many people underestimated Florida last year. Don't underestimate LSU if they win the SEC. That's a very solid team. Personally, I’m relieved not to be playing LSU in the SEC championship. I want the SEC to go to the title game and I can’t root for Florida to lose. I like both Tennessee and LSU but LSU has the best shot at winning it all. That, and I’ve got this buddy who graduated from LSU. Funny story: I came into work one day and told one of the guys that I had forgot my buddy’s birthday. He gave me this blank, “Yeah, so what” stare. Then I told him my buddy is a girl. The reaction was immediate: “Oh man, are you gonna pay!” I repeated the story to three different guys at the office. Their before and after reactions were exactly the same… big deal, then impending doom for me and my absent-mindedness. Some things are just gender specific. I can deal with chili, longlost, and roamaround, … but there would be years of pain involved if I didn’t root for her team to win it all. If mama ain’t happy, ain’t NOBODY happy. Everybody wave bye-bye to Buddha now, when he shows his nekid backside as he dives back under his rock. Ahhhh…I almost feel well again.” 9:20:53 AM 11/11/07 “Congrats SS.” 9:24:01 AM 11/11/07 “Hee Hee Hee (evil laugh) What SEC team has beat all three of Alabama's major football teams this season?” 2:06:54 PM 11/11/07 arclite “You tell 'em man.” 2:12:50 PM 11/11/07 “I mean that part about the SEC, I still hate them gators, except when they play some bunch of yankees in a bowl game.” 2:17:03 PM 11/11/07 “ ”2:40:17 PM 11/11/07 “Props to Illinois! I didn't get to see the game (who schedules weddings during Buckeye games?!) I was worried going into the game, because I've seen the Illini play this year a few times, and that Juice Williams is awsome when he's healthy. Anyway, next week is going to be epic, as usual. If things fall the way they should, I'm still predicting a Kansas v. OSU match-up for the BCS championship! Rock-Chalk-Jayhawk & OH - IO” 3:01:59 PM 11/11/07 “Oh yeah, unranked Illinois is “AWSOME”. Ron Zook is an “AWSOME” coach. Juice is "AWSOME". Denial is "AWSOME". Rationalization is "AWSOME". Bwaaaaaaahahahahahaha Don't think I'll be able to catch this year's "GAME OF THE CENTURY" between Michigan and Ohio State. I've got a nap scheduled.... yaaaaaawn.” 5:43:21 PM 11/11/07 “Dayhiker - OUCH! Arclite - best poster on this board. When you don't have a fact, you make one up! Keep up the good work. Buddha - Ummmm..... as Jesse Jackson would say, "keep hope alive!". Does this mean I get your beer? Nigal - Ouch, but just a little ouch after the opening game this season. Now, about them Jayhawks. I like to think I'm close to being in touch with reality, so I'll tell all of you the truth. Do I think that KU can beat any team in the nation, just because they are THE ONLY BCS TEAM STILL UNDEFEATED???? Heck no. I could be wrong, and I sure as heck hope I am, but I think there are a couple of monster one-loss teams that could handle the Jayhawks. However, it isn't a tournament, and when it's only one game on the line, a team with lesser talent can win. Also, parity is getting greater in football just like in basketball. So....in conclusion, the Jayhawks need only to play Iowa State like a victory is the only thing that will keep their momma out of prison. Arc, did I drink and dance in celebration? Nope. I was sittin' on the porch, whittlin' a stick when a neighbor shouted over the fence. Hey, Uncle Dunny, did ya hear them there J-hogs is ten and oh? I says to my neighbor, is that a new breed of pig, a J-hog? Welp, he says, no, them's a football team that plays only four blocks away from here. Welp, says I, I ain't never heard of no football being played in Lawrence, Kansas, and if they played only four blocks away, don't you think we would'a heard them? Welp, he cornvinced me that he wasn't tippin' the jug, so's I had to believe his story. So, me and the missus celebrated this new-fangled game called "football" by sellin' some of our wheat and goin' to the barn dance. Let me tell you, we kicked up our heels just a little bit. You folks take care of yerselfs. -Uncle Dunny” 8:45:47 PM 11/11/07 Jump to Page << prev
