Where's trailhound been this year? Maybe he didn’t expect his team to do well. Trailhound is our resident Jawja fan, isn't he? Maybe he has different priorities.

I never like losing to Jawja, but I’d hate to have the series go lopsided. It’s not much of a rivalry if it’s lopsided.

Congratulations to Jawja, and trailhound, wherever you are.

Chili, longlost, and roam, I’m not gonna complain now if Tennessee goes to the SEC. Florida had its chance and blew it. Tennessee won’t be sneaking in the back door now. The only time I won’t be rooting for Tennessee is if LSU wins the west and has a chance for a mythical national championship.

It’s another freakin’ crazy year in the SEC.

Did anyone hear how they’re thinking of expanding the 1AA playoffs? They’re expanding the 1AA playoffs and we’re no closer to a 1A playoff? It’s a disgrace of hypocrisy.

Ohio State has NO legitimacy, undead. The only reason the look good is they play in the weeny-ten.

On ESPN Gameday they were talking about which was the best conference. The discussion was between the PAC-10 and the SEC. The unanimous decision was the SEC. That’s no surprise, everybody knows it. The dink-ten may be the fourth or fifth best conference.

As soon as they play a real team, Ohio State will get exposed like they were last year. There’s nothing better than laughing at their no-class fans as they squirm for cover under a rock when they lose.

Anybody can play one or two tough games a year and look good. Ohio State shouldn’t even be in consideration and a playoff would take care of the pretenders. Kentucky would be undefeated playing Ohio State’s schedule.

Oregon beat USC? Connecticut beat USF? Oh man did I lose my butt betting this week. We can only hope for more chaos in the BCS. If Ohio State plays for a championship, it’ll be obvious how screwed up the system is. And it doesn’t matter how much the media talking heads try to drum up interest in their product. Real men know a purse holding pretender when they see one.

Hey Geo - his real name is Chris - Beanie is a nickname, don't know why.

PSU has got to get rid or Morelli. He should have had all the confidence in the world after scoring on that first drive, but wasted it.

You guys will be in a bowl. You may even get to beat Florida!

At Linebacker U, quarterbacks have almost always been head cases.

I don't think a bowl game is an issue at this point. The team obviously needs to adjust, and quarterback is not the only position. Ohio State picked apart the defense almost methodically.

Geo - what sucks is the lack of respect PSU is getting from the pollsters. This year, PSU, OSU, Michigan, Wsiconsin, Illinois and Purdue all have solid top 25 teams - which account for all 3 of your losses. Yet a team like S. Carolina who loses to Vandy and Tenn - unranked teams, is still in the top 25. Heck, even Tennessee is ranked with 3 losses, and they lost to Cal, a non-conference team who is not ranked. Aubrun loses to unranked S. Florida, and perennial basement dweller Miss. St., yet we see them in the top 25, week after week.

The ankle grabbing that is taking place for the SEC, particularly by the AP voters, is nauseating. They are losing thier credibility.

BB, in consecutive sentences you called UT ranked and unranked. ALso, don't know if S.Florida is unranked now, but they were #6 as of 8 days ago. THey've lost 2 since then and may be unranked now.

It probably is a down year for the SEC though, I'll give you that. LSU is the best team in the conference. They got beat by Kentucky who then gets beaten by MSU last weekend. The SEC is eating their own.

Don't know about the AP but you lose credibility when you call the prison style beat down OSU took the biggest upset in BCS history. UF would have beaten OSU 8 games out of 10. You do have an excellent coach and program, but were no match for the Gators last year.

Here is how poor the AP is in ranking collegiate football.
1. 5 of the current Top Ten teams (none of which are SEC teams, I might add), weren't in the pre-season top 25 for the AP (BC, ASU, Oregon, Kansas, Mizzou).

2. The only 3 loss teams in the current top 25 are all SEC teams (Florida, Auburn, Tenn), who, if you take them out of the top 25, would collectively have 6 of the 9 losses to unranked teams.

3. One of USC's losses was to Stanford (no offense B-man), but Stanford is almost just as bad as Appilachian St., yet they are ranked 13, and Michigan is ranked 15 (both lost to Oregon).

4. 11 out of the 25 teams ranked in preseaon, are currently not ranked at all.

Face it, the AP is nothing but a homer for SEC teams, like that apologist Mark May is for the SEC. On saturday, when all the SEC teams got beat by "lesser" SEC teams, he stated "but the SEC still puts people in the NFL".

What?

On average, the Big Ten has more guys in the NFL per team, yet the AP and douchebags like Mark May put the ole' SEC up on some pedestal.

Maybe this arrogance (like that of Mark May, and gator morons like arclite), come from a "nouveaux riche" type mentality comebined with poor sportsmanship. This can be displayed by taking time-outs with the kicker going in motion for the game-winner, or making your entire team dance in the end zone after scoring ONE touchdown, or cracking a kneeling QB after a whistle blew. None of that nonsense should be in collegiate sports. Act like you've been there before! Nevermind.

The only class acts in the SEC are LSU, Bama' and Tenn. Other than that, the conference is not the breadbasket of champions as people like Mark May would have you believe.

Two former OSU alum, Chris Speilman, and Kirk Herbstreit have gone on record complaining of the bias toward the SEC, and the lack of respect toward conferences like the Big Ten. Once, when Spielman confronted one of the ESPN broadcasters about a statement he made regarding the Big Ten's lack of speed, the commentator had NO EVIDENCE of the rubbish he was spewing. Of course not.

Why, because the SEC over-inflates itself, and this is carried on by some of the media. Heck, look at the wikipedia sites for some of these SEC teams, claiming national championships of some far out governing body (incidentally, Alabama has enough pride not to do this, listing thier consensus NC's).

The SEC is a good confernece, but it is not the best. There is no "best" conference, only those with honor, and by the looks of the actions of some AP voters, douchebags like Mark May and the unsportsmanlike behavior of the majority of the SEC teams out there (LSU, Bama and Tenn excluded), have little or no honor to most college football fans.

rant over.
Buddha Bear

Several of Bama's early NC's are very much in dispute by other teams. In the early days if you won the Rose Bowl, you were the NC. Guess which non Big Ten/Pac10 team has the most Rose Bowl wins? Bama.

Mark May was born in NY and played at Pitt. Why would he be a SEC homer?

The SEC has more players in the NFL than anyone: http://www.secsports.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=2&url_article_id=6307&change_well_id=2

The Southeastern Conference had 263 players on the 2007 National Football League opening day active rosters, which led all conferences.

The Atlantic Coast Conference was second with 238 players, followed by the Big Ten with 234 players, Pac-10 with 183 players, Big 12 with 176 players and the Big East with 84 players.

Among SEC schools, Georgia was first with 37 former players on NFL rosters, followed by Tennessee with 36, LSU with 33, Florida with 31 and Auburn with 30. Alabama had 21 players on NFL rosters, while South Carolina had 19, Ole Miss and Mississippi State had 17 each, Arkansas had 12, Kentucky six and Vanderbilt with five.

The SEC had five of its schools with 30-or-more-players on NFL rosters. No other conference had two.

Nationally, Miami (Fla.) leads with 46 former players on NFL rosters, followed by Ohio State with 44, Florida State with 41, Tennessee with 36 and Georgia with 35.

The lists do not include players who were not on opening day rosters and since been activated.

dh - I'm basing my statement on all the returning guys that Florida had this year, while OSU lost and bunch, and the fact that we've lost 1 game in over 2 years. I believe they called that a "dynasty" when this was the case for Miami. Yet when we beat them, it was considered an upset!

That's where I'm coing from when I made that statement.

Over the last 5 years, yall are probably #2 behind USC in wins. Just a guess. Someone called UF a dynasty? They lost tons and it shows this year. Yall lost lots and are doing well. Some will say that's reloading others will say schedule. The truth, as is usually the case, is probably somewhere in the middle.

Here's one reason people are pro SEC these days.

Alabama: Coached by Saban who has 1 MNC to his credit.
Arkansas: McFadden is probably the best player in the country.
Auburn: Tubs has gone undeafeated, narrowly missing out on a chance to play for the MNC.
Florida: Meyer wins MNC in 2nd season
Georgia: Richt has done well, was Bowden's OC. FSU hasn't done much since Richt left.
Tennessee: Fulmer won 98 MNC
South Carolina: Spurrier won 96 MNC with Flordia. Has a perenial basement dweller doing well and ranked for most of the season.
LSU: Miles has them playing as well as ever and ranked #3.

That's a pretty strong lineup.

Schedule strength is not taken into account in the Sagarin rankings - it is only there for information. Otherwise, ASU would be number 1, as they have a much higher strength of schedule ranking than Kansas, and the same W-L record.

Sorry, but 8-0 is not that impressive when 100 teams have a tougher schedule than you do.

Bowlder, you could be right. I don't care about any ranking until the end of the season. You probably remember the Jayhawks of '95 that put up over 40 points on UCLA and wound up #10 in the nation. This could be a better year than that, and the Jayhawk fans will be sky high because of it. And, I think I forgot to thank your Cardinal for knocking off USC back when. (thank you)
Buddha, you have some good points regarding the Bucks losing a load of talent and coming back strong. College sports are funny that way. Talent doesn't carry the entire load. (Notice aforementioned Jayhawks)
And Violin. I think you and I have something in common cheering for schools that aren't traditional powerhouses. We even have some less-than-savory fans who yell the "F" word upon each kickoff. Then there's always the "Muck Fizzou" tee-shirt that the university is constantly trying to get banned.
All in all, a great season so far.

Kansas v. OSU for the National Championship

The bet:

If OSU wins, the following will be delivered to BB:

12 pack of Free State Brewing Co.'s Populist Porter

This dark beer style is a bit lighter than stouts (often much lighter actually) but has a pleasant roasty flavor and a clean dry finish. The name Porter is thought to originate from the rail Porters who were so fond of the beverage in early England. This beer honors Kansas' position as a hotbed of the populist movement of the 1800s when farmers, tired of being screwed by the big eastern banks and big railroad monopolies started raising "less corn and more hell!" up to and including an armed stand-off at the statehouse.
O.G. 14/1056. Hops - 43 IBUs

If the Jayhaks win, the following will be delivered to Dunadan:

12 pack of Great Lakes Brewery's
Eliot Ness

An amber lager with rich, fragrant malt flavors balanced by crisp, noble hops.

ABV: 6.2% ABW: 5.0% IBU: 35

TYPE/STYLE:
Amber Lager: Created by Anton Dreher of Vienna, Austria, during the mid-19th century.

FOOD COMPLEMENTS:
Spicy dishes, pork, pasta and sausage.

BRAND NAME:
Named after one of Cleveland's most respected safety directors who frequented the Brewpub's bar during his tenure from 1935-1941 and, according to popular legend, was responsible for the bullet holes in the bar still evident today. Margaret Conway, the mother of owners Patrick and Daniel Conway, worked with Ness as his stenographer.

NFL Star: They Speak English In London?

By Sky News SkyNews - Friday, October 26 10:56 am

Miami Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder has admitted not knowing people speak English in London.

The NFL player might want to check a map before he gets on board a plane for Sunday's prestige game against the New York Giants at Wembley Stadium.

Crowder, who comes from Atlanta in Georgia, may be praised on the field, but confessed geography was not his strong point.

He admitted he did not know until now where London was - or that Londoners spoke English.

"I couldn't find London on a map if they didn't have the names of the countries," he said.

"I swear to God. I don't know what nothing is. I know Italy looks like a boot. I learned that."

Crowder added: "I know (Washington Redskins linebacker) London Fletcher. We did a football camp together. So I know him.

"That's the closest thing I know to London. He's black, so I'm sure he's not from London. I'm sure that's a coincidental name."

The Miami Dolphins are play the New York Giants at Wembley this Sunday in the first NFL regular-season game to be played outside the United States.

Channing Crowder is a graduate from [drumroll] Florida. My favorite quote?
