Au contraire, I am doing my best arclite impression.

If anybody pokes fun at UF or posts anything remotely critical he BLASTS them until they take their toys and run home. I'm just giving him a dose of his own medicine, albeit with fewer insults and less junior high blather.

But now his rebuttals have degraded to the equivalent of "N'uh, uh you are!" so it's probably about time to put it to bed.

I was about ready to stop anyway 'til he declared Meyer "all that is great about college football". You can't make a statement like that and expect it not to be scrutinized. Fulmer was crucified in the media for lax discipline 2 or 3 yrs ago and rightly so; even has the dubious honor of the "Fulmer Cup". Meyer doesn't get to wear teflon when player conduct takes a nosedive as it has in the last year. Especially when he piously declares that they only take the top 1% of the top 1%.

I'm picking Bama over Georgia this weekend. That close win over Arky bodes well for their season.

Excuse me if Notre Dame's fall from grace strikes me as a dose of karmic retribution. This goes all the way back to 1990 and the Domers' flagrantly self-serving decision to blow off the College Football Association and fly solo through the college football season. More recently, the big-dollar alums ran Willingham out of town, the first time a Notre Dame coach has been fired before the end of his first contract.
Turns out Willingham, who is starting to restore the University of Washington to its old luster, was a pretty good coach. And his replacement, Charlie Weis, is looking sadly and suspiciously like a fraud

You Tennessee fans here are very cool and I absolutely root for Tennessee every game except one. I need to get to Neyland some year. I need to see the VOL Navy. I need to set some mines...

LSU/South Carolina. We’ll tell a thing or two about both teams. Although I think LSU romps because they’ve got something to prove this year.

Iowa/Wisconsin. This will clarify a couple of things in the big ten.

Penn St./Michigan. We’ll see if Penn St. is really a contender by beating Michigan in the big house, or if Michigan can regroup enough for a decent bowl game.

Georgia/Alabama. I think this will be close. Georgia has their backs against the wall after losing to SC. And we’ll see how quickly Saban’s philosophy takes hold. I don’t think it’ll take long for the Tide players to believe they’re a winning program again.

Kentucky/Arkansas should be interesting.

Georgia Tech/Virginia will clarify the ACC a bit. I picked GT giving 3.

On ESPN Gameday, Corso said (and Herbstreit agreed), “Florida’s so good they’re scary.” Not only didn’t I buy it, but the Jekyll-like (That's correct. He's really my good side) obnoxious sports fan felt a shot of adrenaline and new life. The emotionally charged nonsense coming out of the mouths of sports pundits always gives the sports fan a reason to live. The emotionally charged nonsense coming out of the mouths of many sports fan’s mouths is sheep-like drivel, but the pundits help create that nonsense in a lot a sports fan’s minds to begin with. I find it unprofessional at best; snake oil sales at least.

Florida’s a good team, but not anywhere near great. These kids are way too young and it reminds me of the same nonsense they tried to sell about Ohio State’s young defense last year.


Bateaux, LSU is going to beat Florida in Death Valley. It would be a worse beating if the game were at night. You heard it here first.




Speaking of Holy Cow, did anyone else hear the announcers mention the size of the Oklahoma offensive line during their game? I thought I heard them say that Oklahoma’s offensive line averages 6’-5” and 322lbs! 6’-5” 322lbs!!! HOLY COW!

We went to the Stanford-Oregon game last night. We lost, but showed more signs of improvement - definitely doing better than last year's 1-11 team. After giving up 2 TDs in the first 5 minutes and another one before the end of the 1st quarter (and squeezing in a FG for ourselves), we fired off 28 straight points in the 2nd quarter to pull ahead by 10. #13 Oregon went onto score the final 34 points throughout the remainder of the 1st half and the 2nd half. But don't you love it when you're the 80th ranked team in the country and an undefeated top-15 team's fans get SOOOOOOO excited when they catch up to you?!

BTW, we did it without our starting middle linebacker, who is out forever with a crushed vertebrae, and without our starting fullback, who had 140 yards rushing the previous week.”

We had an easier week on the 15th against San Jose State. This past Saturday was Oregon (Sagarin #7, AP #11, USAToday 312). This coming Saturday it's Arizona State (Sagarin #11, AP #23, USAToday #26). Then we go to USC (#1 in all polls). Maybe we'll get to play an unranked team again this season?”

They'll probably steal a 'W' in one of the above.

The media is calling the UGA game in 2 weeks a "must win" for Fulmer.

UT will probably improve some. Against Arky State they FINALLY played several of their hyped freshmen. That, BTW, is right on cue. Typically UT's coaching braintrust won't play the best players until after a Florida loss. The best example of this being '97 when Mark Levine played RB against UF. Who you ask? Exactly. Jamal Lewis started the next week and the rest of the season racking up ~150 yds. his first game ~220 his second...you get the picture.”

I've waited almost my whole life for another decent UK football team, so give credit where credit is due. It was UK that knocked Louisville out of the top 10. Syracuse knocked Louisville out of the top 25.

My Wildcats are this year what your beloved Rutgers was last year.
