“Two games two winners, neither of high point value, though. I'm starting to get heartburn about picking Oregon over Colorado for 21 points. That's a long shot and with this competition, I feel like I need to hit 26 through 19 or 20. If I bomb, I'll just blame it on finals. Yeah, that's the ticket.”

“Yeah, Max, I was wondering why you had the Duck-Buff game so high on your list. That could be one of the more interesting games.”

“Colorado St came through with 24 big points for the Dunadan. Marshall only gained 1 for me.
Co St won by a landslide. Marshall barely won.

“BACK from the land of the obnoxious sports fan (athough Cleveland may hold that distinction now). Whuzzup wid Chili and Dayhiker? I was looking at our bowl orders as my teams were going down the toilet over the holiday. A lot of the fun (and difficulty) of this format was choosing the order of the games. Chili and dayhiker chose my order, Dunadan. I must be the football god, I have followers. God of the underworld is about it. They're following me into football hell.

Let's spice this baby up! Dayhiker, I met a guy in the airport up north. He was a Bama grad and is living in Jacksonville Alabama(?) I didn't even know there was a Jacksonville Alabama. Anywho, he told me a joke.

I swear, he told me that joke. I would not make something like that up. I didn't even laugh, I swear I didn't! At least not for more than five minutes.


If it weren't for Bama saving my butt (actually, it was the Iowa St. kicker who missed by the thickness of a sheet of paper), I would have had a dismal bowl record. Well, it's already pretty dismal, but it would have been worse.

Thank God, Bama didn't lose to one of those lowly big 12 teams. What happened to the pac 10? I thought they were decent this year? Loosing to the Mountain West and ACC? Good Lord, how the mighty have fallen.

Santa gave me a bunch of coal in my stocking with these bowl games. Do you think he has been reading this thread and found out how naughty I've been?”

Last year after we were trounced by UCLA (we were ranked #3 preseason) an Architectural client (AU grad) called and asked what the difference between Bama and Dale Earnhardt was? Earnhardt's still #3. And for this year, do you know what the difference between Bama and a dollar bill is? You can get 4 qtrs out of a dollar bill. I told you I had a sense of humor.

I think that field goal was good. If it wasn't, then that's as close as you can get. I'm hesitant to say Bama won. I think saying we didn't lose is more appropriate. They went up and down the field on us, while we only had 1 drive. Oh well, we've still been to and won more bowls than anyone. RTR”

“It was nice of the announcer to point out that fact about Bama's bowl record, dayhiker. That's a nice statistic and no voting involved.

You sure are right about that, dayhiker. It was one ugly win, but a win nonetheless. What was remarkable was how Bama stuck around while getting dragged up and down the field. Bama's defense came through when it needed to. You could call that a traditional Bama win. The field goal was mighty close, but the ref was standing right under the post and had the best angle. It was a nail biter. Third and 25? Iowa St. had third and 25? Iowa St. had third and 25 and got 26 yards? I'll bet your language was as colorful as mine on that play, dayhiker. Sheesh, that was ugly. Almost as ugly as my bowl picks... Nah, not that ugly.

So far I've got it:
Dunadan- 50 points
Chili- 31 points
Dayhiker- 36 points
Max- 59 points
Me- 36 points

Thank God Stanford didn't win, or Max would be running away with it. Max only has one bowl loss. Dunadan has two losses and has got all of his low point bowls out of the way. Nice 1, 2, & 3 point bowl picks, Mr. football god. The rest of us still have a chance. The rest of you have a better chance if you picked differently from me.”

Well arc, at the time, my thought was "why re-invent" the wheel. Presently, I am left with a crystal clear meaning of "hindsight is 20/20". LOL. I will just chock this one up to "lessons learned".”

I knew the Pac 10 was soft. That was why I chose the Ramblin' Wreck over Stanford. But, Utah over USC??? I still wouldn't pick that and the game's over.
I think the only game I should have picked differentlly was the A&M game. Should have made it worth more money. I knew they would rock. Don't think TCU should have been invited to a bowl.
Update on the Jayhawks...Mangino is continuing to gather some talent in the coaching dept. There are two players that signed that said they would have passed KU by except for Mangino. Best move he's made so far, though, is kicking the former starting quarterback off of the team. That guy was a morale killer if I ever saw one. You can only steal so many purses, you know.”

The Big East is doing it's thing in the bowls again. Either these teams really can play with the big boys, or their match-ups are very favorable. The Big East had the best league bowl record last year and I STILL didn't give them enough respect this year.

Max seems to be running away with this thing. Today is crunch time. If BYU wins, the rest of us are in deep doo-doo.”
