STANDING TALL
Louisville 25 at Rutgers 28 Final

To anyone who feels the Big East is inferior: EAT IT! Rutgers goes 9-0 in the biggest win in school history. Stand tall Knights, this is R time.

To Louisville's credit however, they played very well, and during parts of the first half, it didn't look very promising for Rutgers at all. Could be a strong rivalry developing here, which would be great for an ailing Big East conference.

Stick around, things are gonna get interesting around here...

Rutgers is the best team in the Big East?

I don't want to take anything away from Louisville. They came to play and took advantage of some early jitters. Brian Brohm is going to make some lucky NFL team very happy and he has a full stable of talented receivers to throw to and some very good running backs as well. He's just never faced a lightning fast, well coached and hyper-aggressive defense like this before. I could see it in his face from 27 rows up. The kid was cool as could be against West Virginia. He was rattled pretty badly last night.

That was an exciting game. It's unfortunate that even if Rutgers wins out, their odds at a spot in the national championship game are very low.

You might try a Rutgers football message board. The Bama one I read has a feature where you can get a DVD of any recent Bama game and pretty much any big game going back to the 60's.

Wow Auburn and Louisville lose, two top five teams upset - and Auburn at home decisively to Georgia who'd won one out of the last five.

It will be interesting to see how far up Rutgers will move. If they stay undefeated and beat West Virginia, they should have a legitimate shot at the title game.

(I'm still clinging to the slim hope that Texas will be back in the championship game, and the better hope that BC will move back into the top 20)

All I have to say is that I'm glad that John L Smith is leaving MSU... I feel bad for the seniors who are not returning-- they could have had a better season, but now they'll have to stay at home and watch their friends at other institutions go to bowl games....

Holy smokes! What a bloody Saturday for formerly one loss, soon to be former top ten teams.

That Texas-KSU game was just short of actual combat. How many guys got injured altogether?

Florida was lucky to survive... again. I wonder how the second straight week of close calls will effect their ranking.

Ohio State and Michigan made up for last week in convincing fashion. I know what I'll be doing next Saturday afternoon.

The OSWho-Michigan game is going to be one of the biggest games ever for the two schools. I'm still not sure either is #1 or #2 material being so untested but they are neck and neck so it will depend on who blinks first. Michigan under Loyd has a tendency to be too nervous for the big games and always seem to end up trying to play catch up in the second half.

So Buddha, double or nothing on the 12 pack of Guinness?

Nigal
you're on!

BTW - I hope those crappy gators make the NC Game, either OSU or Michigan will tear them a new one.

Go Rutgers! BTW, my prediction is not going exactly to plan.... but pretty darned close!

Ohio State v. Rutgers in the National Championship.

Here is how this could happen, and initiate the rapture for evangelical christians everywhere.....

Ohio State will run the table, no question there, and be ranked #1.

Rutgers runs the table and moves up the ranking like so:

Week 10, Rutgers kills UConn, moves from #14 ranking to #12 ranking due to Clemson upset at Va. Tech, and Florida getting beat by Gawja.

Week 11, Rutgers beats Louisville, handily, and combined with Tennessee loss to LSU, and USC loss to Oregon, Ruthers gets ranked at #8.

Week 12, Rutgers kills Cincy, Arkansas loses to Tennesee, Auburn loses to Gawja and Rutgers in now ranked #6.

Week 13, Rutgers beats Syracuse, Texas loses to Texas A&M, Michigan loses to Ohio State, Notre Dame loses to USC and Rutgers is ranked #3.

Week 14, Rutgers beats then #2 W. Virginia, and ends up ranked #2.

National Championship Game:
Ohio State 45, Rutgers 3”

A: That's Buddha Bear counting his chickens before they're hatched.

The only board running OSWho's going to do is running Troy Smith off the field on a back board after being crushed by Michigan's front line.

My uninformed prediction: Michigan versus one of the one loss teams as Rutgers will be beat by WV.

What a weird year, btw. Except for a little trouble with Ball State, it has been a smooth, smooth year for my alma mater.

BTW, I don't see USC beating Cal, ND and UCLA in a row. I just don't see it.

I think the coolest scenario is MI and OSU in the championship game. MI will win on Saturday and OSU won't drop far. USC will lose to Cal and ND will lose to USC.

Or what the heck, let's steamroll ND again.

I guess I can handle #6 especially since either USC or Notre Dame will lose on the 25th and either OSU or Mich lose next weekend. Florida has been flirting with disaster all on it's own. If USC loses to either Cal or UCLA and beats Notre Dame and Rutgers runs the table...

Interesting the BCS objective computer scoring Michigan #1, Rutgers #2, and OSU #3. Since they combine that with the survey rankings, Rutgers is only #6 is the official BCS rankings.

Wow. Stanford hadn't beaten Washington in Seattle in 31 years. So what happens in their worst season in history? They win in Seattle, 20-3. Downright weird! Not only that, but Cal was upset by Arizona, and San Jose State couldn't quite upset Boise State, so now Stanford has the longest current winning streak of the three major Bay Area college teams!

Unfortunately, we will likely drop down, maybe out, of espn.com's Bottom 10. Oh well....

Yes you do, Dayhiker, you tear down your goalposts for Florida. And, apparently, you drop your pants for everyone.

Bowlder, I’m so sorry your team won. I know that you’re intensely disappointed. That #1 ranking was firmly in your grasp and has now slipped away. My condolences.

The SEC is a conference where there are now 8 bowl eligible teams despite the pounding they put on each other. Defending SEC champion Jawja is unranked and has been beaten by Kentucky. Arkansas, which finished near the bottom of the SEC last year is now undefeated in conference play. Many sports pundits picked Auburn to contend for the national title but they got destroyed by unranked Jawja in one of college football’s oldest rivalries. Florida beat Jawja but lost to Auburn. Miss. St. beats the team in college football with the second most mythical national championships, Alabama. This is a conference where 5-5 S. Carolina gave both west leading Arkansas, and east leading Florida, close games.

In the south we get up for it every day. Sweaty bodies come together every day to practice. Because on Saturday there will be incredible passion and fireworks every single weekend.

In the mid-west they fall asleep in recliners every week. Beer bottles in hand, their bellies bloated, there is no excitement in their lives.

Then, once a year, they get up for the big event. They anticipate the moment that all their energy will be spent on one day of passion. For one day a year, there is excitement in their lives.

Then they fall asleep until next year. But maybe they get lucky. Maybe they fall into a good bowl game. Only then do they experience two days of passion per year.

Comparisons can obviously be drawn between their football behavior and the reputed sexual behavior of mid-westerners.

The Sunday after the Michigan/Michigan State Game the Church proper designated the Green sashes for the clergy.

I walked up to the priest/pastor and asked. "You are a Michigan fan right?" He smilingly answered yes.

"Why you wearin' the State Colors?" I asked.

He laughed and said he would talk to the Bishop to get special dispensation next year.
