“Well, chili, you called it. Ainge lit up Florida. The boy was brilliant on third down. I felt strongly that Tennessee wouldn’t be able to run on our front 7, but Ainge and those great receivers made up for an anemic rushing performance. It’s very unusual for the team with less rushing yards to win this game, but Tennessee almost pulled it out. I also told longlost to watch out for our pass rush. And it turns out the pass rush (with intentional grounding) was quite possibly THE turning play.

Wilhoit was magnificent. Kickoffs and field goals were both very, very good. Tennessee has a heck of a weapon with his kicking. Tennessee is back.

I’m gonna need nitroglycerine to watch this game as I get older. Once again, I know why this is one of my favorite games year after year.

Even though the CBS cameras caught Tennessee fans throwing stuff on the Florida players, I want to congratulate all you unclean, toothless hillbillies on a game well played. Tennessee has nothing to be ashamed about after a game like that… Except that y’all are LOOOOOOOOOOOOOSERS!”

LSU/Auburn, what a slug-fest. I can't wait to play both those teams. Chances are high that we lose both games. Maybe then chili will be happy. Nah, he'll still be a bitter ol' LOOOOOOOOOOOOOSER!




And how about those Scarlet Knights? I'm thinking two bowl games in a row. I'm thinking Scarlet Knights in Florida for bowl season. I'm thinking violin kayaking in Florida while visiting for the bowl game. I'm thinking violin drowning while I hold him under water.

“Just got back from Auburn. Man what a game. You wouldn't think of a 7 to 3 game as being exciting but it was much better than the route over Arizona even though LSU lost to AU. The greatest thing of all was enjoying the cooler weather of the Montgomery/Auburn area. It is amazing what a difference going just a couple of hundred miles away from the gulf makes. Man this morning I didn't want to go home I wanted to drive on to the Pinhoti and hike. Didn't get bit by one skeeter either all weekend. Got nailed at least five times getting the bags out of the car here. I'm starting to ask my wife more and more, to agree to move to a more pleasant climate north or west. She just won't uproot.”

“I was so excited that Tulane won yesterday against Mississippi State. It is a really big win for them. Last year they had such a rough season post Katrina. Next weekend they will be playing in LSU Tiger Stadium. I pull for both LSU and Tulane. When they meet I have to pull for Tulane. A win against two SEC teams two weeks in a row isn't likely for Tulane but I hope they give the Tigers a good game. I won't be watching the game because, I'll be on the road to Durango Colorado for a week of backpacking in the Weminuche Wilderness.”

The hometown Eagles won another OT squeaker (double OT this time) - but they sure aren't looking ready to dominate anyone.”

FL manhandled our O line the whole game. Ainge kept it close with his arm and some good plays by receivers and our D Backs. But you gotta gotta gotta be able to run the ball the win games!”

OSU - Ranked #1, 3rd week and counting. Get ready to be booted from the Top 25 next week Penn St.!

BTW - I agree with beauteax - that Auburn LSU game was sweet, although I wanted LSU to win.

Congrats to Michigan on winning the Over-Rated Bowl! May be a #1 v. #2 matchup in November, and I still owe Nigal a 12 pack of Guinness from 2 years ago. You'll get it someday Nigal.

“alabama's season is over dayhiker....they play arkansas in the mud, a sketchy team---you guys did have probs barely beating vandy. Florida in gainesville, the vols in the pumpkin patch, LSU in the swamp and number 2 auburn in bryant denny....sorry but it's gonna suck for you guys to finish below or right above mississippi in the west.

UT has 2, maybe 3 more losses coming to them, ainge is unreliable, it's the great pumpkin charlie brown!!

I'm already completely prepared to lose to both LSU and Auburn, Opie. Anything else would be gravy. Chris Leak still makes too many bad decisions for me to feel comfortable about this offense. And Tennessee's receivers exposed our secondary.

I sure do miss Auburn as a regular opponent. Florida/Auburn was usually a fanastic, last-second, knock-down-drag-out game, just like the Tennessee game usually is now. I like both the Auburn and LSU rivalries. At Florida, as far as I've always seen, the fans have always got along well. I like rivalries with classy fans who are good sports.




OSU looks good but I can't bring myself to root for them. Although I've heard nice things about Buddha, I ran into one of their drunk and violently obnoxious fans in Hawaii. The guy's girlfriend had to drag him away from a situation he created and really didn't want to get himself into. He was foaming at the mouth obnoxious. The sour expression on her face told us that she had seen this type of obnoxious behavior before. He's the second OSU fan I've run into like that.

“Ha! Good ones, arc!! Actually, the lack of cup holders has been an item of minor controversy. The food that they have at the better concession stands (although I haven't really checked it out in detail) is reportedly a good step above the basic hot dogs, etc. that they used to have. I think they even have sushi at one or more stands (increasingly popular item to have at sports venues here on the west coast where we have lots of Asian Americans and people who enjoy Asian food).

No alcohol.

Bowlder, your newly renovated stadium sure looks like a lovely place to watch a football game. But I can’t help laughing about the cultural differences between the left coast teams and the SEC.

First off, if anyone in our stadium was caught munching on a salad, chances are high that a huge beer can would drop out of the sky and crush them. The only reason for selling salad and sushi in the SEC would be to feed the farm animals and bait fish hooks.

The SEC is a football fanatic’s conference. Salad and sushi have no place at such an event. Is that $4 soda organically produced? Does the stadium have its own wine cellar?


However, I will never eat another stadium hot dog. Back when I was young enough, I was a member of the Jaycees. We had a concession at Florida Field. I can’t even print (in a public forum) what I’ve seen those hot dogs go through. But I’m sure that only real men can eat them without getting violently ill.


That being said, I would never eat salad and sushi at a football game. It’s like oil and water. We take our hard-nosed, tough defense, smash-mouth football rivalries seriously in the SEC.

Just look at how the Tennessee fans can’t even bring themselves to congratulate Florida on a hard won game. They have their fragile egos so wrapped up in their team that they are incredibly poor sports. Which makes them incredible…
