After actually watching a Florida game (I was rooting for State) I can honestly say that Florida deserves to be numero uno. I still don't like them but I can admit that much.”

“I think Fla St is weak enough this year that you can't say that the Gators win over them indicated a #1 ranking. However, they are, without a doubt, in the top 5. Until some team beats Nebraska, they are #1.
I sure wish that Syracuse would have at least made a game of it. I thought there might be a possibility that they could hang with the Canes, but no way.

“Nigal, I was at the Michigan/Wisconsin game. Had row 7 seats on the 20 yd. line (at twice face value, yikes!). It was an ugly spectacle. Horrible offense on both sides, and even worse special teams by Wisconsin. A few nice defensive plays were the only highlights.

The real action was the near brawls between the Badger fans around me and the rude ba$tardo U-M students in the first five rows who insisted on standing on the seat benches and blocking our views. I didn't see hardly any of the first half (if I stood up, two little boys behind me had no chance), and even though the cops finally showed up as things started to fly at the punks, it was only somewhat helpful. A handful of arrests and a lot of shouting. Echoed the quality of the game. The Wisconsin special teams coach should be in hiding, and the Michigan students who were yelling obscenities at women and children who couldn't see should get their allowances revoked.

The highpoint for my wife was running into HHS Sec. (and former Wis. Gov.) Tommy Thompson at the bratwurst concession.”

“Dunadan, the hearing that they had was with the Infractions Committee. That was the big formal meeting. Hopefully it went as well as the game. The Infractions C. typically sends out results in 6-8 weeks. Should know something in mid January.”

“Thanks BobK. Whoda' thunkit. That was an absoloutely unbelievable ball game. The biggest key for Bama was that our defense finally showed up for 60 minutes. Losing Williams hurt. I think most folks were being patient with Franchione. It was the vocal bubbas that were causing such a stink. The media doesn't help. Maybe now he will be given time to fully implement his system. He's been saying all year that we're multiple instead of an option team. I think that game will finally shut up the naysayers of his offense. I think we'll be treated to many great Iron Bowl clashes in the years ahead with Tubberville and Franchione at the helms. Hopefully we'll both have strong teams in the years ahead, which will make for some classic games. Roll Tide and thanks for the congratulations.”

What about those horrible Miami Hurricanes? What a disgrace to God, Country, and Mom's Apple Pie. Imagine scoring lots of points in a football game? 59-0 against an overmatched Syracuse team. Just disgraceful. They Ought to put the Hurricanes on some sort of probation. That was such a disgusting display of excellent football. Let's all get indignant. Because we FEEL like it. And how about Bobby Bowden defending his player who intentionally injured our starting tailback, Ernest Graham? Darnell Dockett (FSU nose tackle) admitted to intentionally injuring Graham. Bowden only had nasty things to say about Steve Spurrier, who had the gall to send tape to the SEC office for review. What a complete jerk Bowden is. He oughta be raked over the coals by the press. But he won't be.”

Hey Dunadan, I bet on Kansas giving 3 to Wyoming this week. The game's not over yet (as I post this), but I have great confindence in those Jayhawk boys.

Tennessee always has a good shot, chili. But I might bet that spread this week (if it's not too outrageous). 1. Florida has a chance to accomplish it's #1 goal: The SEC East. 2. Florida has a shot at the title game. 3. A CONVINCING win will help Florida's chances in the BCS. 4. Florida is HOME. Playing here is really, really tough for an opponent. The noise in the stadium hurts my ears even when I sit at the top.

Playoff...Playoff...Playoff!
It's not fair that Nebraska drops out of the picture because of a late loss (although that was one heck of a loss). Strength of schedule favors the Gators, IF they win out. But what about Oklahoma or Oregon? What about Texas? There are some excellent football teams out there and we are getting ripped off by the bowl system. Can you imagine some of the playoff match-ups?”

Sorry, Nigal, but you are right, Mighigan has been trying hard to beat themselves and they finally got the job done. My wife, of all people predicted an Ohio St win. (She knows nothing about football.) I hope Illinois deports themselves well in the bowl game. They now have the reputation of the Big Ten on their backs. Who would have guessed it?
I really do hope that Miami gets tripped up. Everybody having one loss would just help mess up the whole BCS thing.

I saw an artical in SI that talked about why BYU is so good. Seams they recruit the kids and then send them out on 2 year misions trips and THEN let them come play ball. They have a bunch of 21-26 year olds playing against a bunch of 18-20 year olds. It's a MORMAN conspiricy I say!”

All of the the leagues seem to be following the SEC motto: "We eat our own."

Quite an edifying weekend. I got to hear announcers on several shows talk about all of the players from the State of Florida who were on teams all over the country.

I got to watch Colorado go for it late in the game, on fourth down, with the score 62-36.

I got to hear the idiot announcer from the Ohio St./Michigan game say, "Ohio State's offense went conservative, and deservedly so." This was early in the third quarter before OSU let Michigan back into the game and risked losing because they didn't put them away. Stupid football, stupid football.

I got to hear the ABC announcer say, "You can't blame 'em for wanting to play, and you certainly can't keep them from scoring." During Miami's blow-out win. Did you folks see Dorsey throwing bombs with the score 58-7?

Then there was Chattenooga beating Kent St. 71-0. Do you folks notice how that darn Chattenooga team keeps running up the score on opponents?


I'm pretty sure that if some folks noticed these things, they didn't sink in. Yep, nothin' but love.”

“Nigal - Woody and Earl had winning records against Michigan, it became non-competitive when Cooper ran the show. Cooper had a great regular season, sure, but our September schedule looked like Free Shoes University's. Of course we'll win those games.
