Yeah, why there is not at least a 4 team playoff is beyond me. Who's up for boycotting college football? Well ok, maybe not such a good idea. We’re addicts I tell ya!

Sorry about the Halloween name. I forgot to change back.

I have one thing to say to those who are whining about SC and the Pac 10.

BRING IT ON! We would have loved to play in New Orleans to show that we truly were and still are #1. If someone doesn't like it, they should write a letter to the BCS, the coaches and ESPN.
I think it's sad the excuses that are being made for teams losing their games. It's called being a sore loser and it's bad sportsmanship.

No one whined about SC, they whined about you only having 2 teams in your conference. Furthermore, the complaint is about a 1 loss Cal team participating in a joke of a conference being selected over other 1 loss teams that have actually played a balanced schedule. Not the same thing.

Well, we'll do our best to beat cal in our final game this season - it'll be my 26th "Big Game" in a row!

Say it with me, Bowlder. DA BEARS!

Cocoa, I appreciate you keeping informed about the Jayhawks. Yeah, this is the same thing that has happened to KU for three years running. Mangino can't attract enough talent, (yet), to get a strong back-up QB. However, there were too many things that went wrong against ISU. That was one that got away. No bowl game for this team, I'm afraid.
I've enjoyed reading about Auburn. Until I met the Cocoameister, I knew nothing of the school.

Yawn. It cracks me up to see all the Cal fans strutting around with their chests all puffed out after winning 2 years in a row. Woo hoo. Wake me when they get 5 or so in a row, which will still be a couple short of the 7 in a row we got in the recent past.

Have I mentioned that Illini football sucks?

It's looking like a second year in a row without a conference win.

It's always good to see someone from a basketball school posting on this thread, Hubcap. I think I mentioned that I was born in Waukegan, my wife was born in Champaign while her father was getting his graduate degree. I say this to let you know that I am well informed about the Illini. My father-in-law still comes back from CA every year with his son to watch a game. He is pretty bummed out about the state of affairs in Champ/Urbana. However, his mood lifts quite a bit when November rolls around, and he and I have quite a running argument about basketball. He can't forgive KU for taking Self away from Ill. It's gonna be a great season.

It was fitting that the States with the good teams: Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kansas, Texas, Jawja, and Ohio were winners this week.

It is telling that the States with the suck-butt teams: California, Michigan, and NJ were losers this week.

Ugh. Bad clock management at end of first half; result: ASU gets hail mary pass for a TD. We go ahead w/2:00 to play in the game; ASU marches 80 yards and scores winning TD w/9 seconds left. Played 2 ranked teams this year. 0-2 record. Total margin of loss: 6 points. Ugh squared.

The only candidate other than the "big two" that the "liberal" media bothered to cover much was Nader, Dayhiker. Nope, too much of a socialist for me. He skimmed some of the socialists away from the Democrats so they tried to stop freedom of speech by preventing him from being on the ballot...shameful.

Don't listen to a Jawja fan, Chili. I been dealing with those poor sports for years. They're the worst winners in the world and they always enjoy kicken' folks when they're down.

I was very disappointed that the VOLS lost. And I was especially disappointed that the VOLS lost to that particular team who shall remain nameless.

Ouch, losing after both QBs going down hurts! Most likely both will be back for the AU in Atlanta. Congrats to ND they played well and excuited a wonderful game plan. I hate the wouldof shouldof crowd but no way we lose Saturday with either 1st or 2nd string QB. Glad we have KY and Vandy up next.

actually, I haven't seen a game all year, but I know from second hand accounts that ND has looked schizo...one week they are world beaters the next week they are terrible. Probably no way they beat Tenn. if you all had your 1st or 2nd string guy...

Of course, this is revenge for the game I had to sit through a couple years ago at ND where Tenn. beat up on us. I had a rather large and incredibly loud woman decked out in jail house orange (or is that deer season orange), screaming "let's go Vols!" every 10 seconds...

We'll take the win, however we get it...

Nobody said anything about a fluke and I give the win and complement your team on a great game. ND played well and deserves the win. But there is no way anyone who knows their Xs and Os would believe ND keeps UT out of the end zone in the 2nd half with a healthy young gun, not to mention our 3rd stringer giving away seven.

until this injury UT basically had the SEC East won unless Ky or vandy outplayed them or mistakes cost us the game.
Now I am not so sure about either of those games. Hopefully with a week of practice Clausen can get his act together and UT will step it up a notch or two.

Woo Hoo!
Michigan State pulled it out and trounced Wisconsin! (and right before the game, the predictions from the press were "35-14" in favor of Wisconsin.... One sports guy even went as far as saying "MSU might actually go out and beat Wisconsin", but he wasn't brave enough to back up his comment with a win for MSU.... :-)

Only wish we had been able to do the same the past 2 weeks!

The biggest bummer is that because we beat Wisconsin, University of Michigan will go to the Rose Bowl... :-(

Man, how many times have I heard that one! Some people say that it's just whining. I don't, Crash, and I feel your pain. I've seen some horrendous officiating over the last few years.

The big ten did a good thing by using instant replay.

My team is eligible for a bowl! Oh Hallelujah, oh happy day! Oh lord, how did we sink so low?

Dayhiker, you’re a prophet. But your prediction of 7-4 was probably too generous. 7-4 is sounding pretty sweet right now, but I seriously doubt that we’ll accomplish that milestone.
arclite

11/15/04

7-4 was with Croyle. If he hadn't torn his ACL the Iron Bowl would be with (2) 10-0 teams. If we had any semblance of a passing game we'd be at least 8-2. If Bama scores that touchdown before the no-call on the pass interference then the game is 17-6. Game over. LSU scored their late TD's on long runs while Bama was blitzing to try and get the ball back. Very similar to the UT game. Hardfought game on both sides we just don't have the guns to overcome being in a whole. Good teams overcome bad calls, we're not there yet.

Our rivalry game, the "Big Game," is this Saturday, the hundred and somethingth version. It is certain to be a blowout. In fact, if Stanford scores so much as a field goal in the game, I will be genuinely shocked; I may faint right there. My prediction: 49-0. And that's only the halftime score - who knows where it'll go from there....

BTW, it will be my 26th consecutive Big Game....

The Iron Bowl is on Sat. I can't recall an Iron Bowl I looked forward to less. Well, maybe that one that was Dumbose's last year. Bama is so beat up right now they aren't having contact in practice this week. They didn't last week either. I read where we've had 22 games missed by starters.

Let's see, last year he played the entire season with a separated shoulder and had fall practice to learn the new offense then the first 3 games of the season he had great numbers. If Croyle was still playing we'd be no worse than 8-2 right now. 10-0 is a real possibility.

I don't think anyone who actually watched the LSU game can say that the call didn't change the winner. The head of the SEC refs even called Shula to personally apologize.

Bama really won't be decent again until 2006.
dayhiker
10:42:49 AM
11/17/04

Dayhiker the final was 26-10. Even if the call was a 14 point difference LSU still wins. LSU won in almost every statistic category beating Bamer all over the field, especially in the kicking game. If I remember correctly Bama began 5 times inside their own 15. I politely don't see anyway bama says this game should have been a W and agree with the call or lack of call based on the fact that both players have the same priority to catch the ball (the pass was terribly thrown flat and to the wrong side of the receiver). Simply it was a tough call when considering where the ball was thrown. Often you hear announcers describe physical receivers as jewels.
