Biggest fears
So we know bacpac is afraid of motorcycles, tarpy is scared of mental clarity and sobriety,I am scared of horses (riding them, they are fine to look at). What torments you?

RE: Biggest fears
I don't think I have a fear for myself. But I am so ready for my son to get married and settle down it worry's me to death. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have a care in the world.

I think it's because i married so young that i think he should already be married. I might add that he's as happy as he can be so he's not in any hurry, but it buggs me to death. Anybody know some nice girls you can send my way???????

RE: Biggest fears
Snakes. I'm really afraid of snakes and we are so well blessed with them here in the deep south. I have been bitten by a cotton mouth but I was afraid of snakes even before that happened.

RE: Biggest fears
Me too Leatherneck. And frogs and toads being squished. I freak out at the prospect of stepping on a toad. Every once in a while we'll hit a section of trail with lots of baby toads. I tiptoe trying not to step on them. I stepped on one barefoot when I was a kid (a big one) and got dive bombed by a tree frog once. I haven't gotten over it yet.

I have a problem driving over really big, tall bridges. I have to drive slow and in the middle lane which makes other drivers very HAPPY (not).

RE: Biggest fears
Once I was babysitting a little girl and she started to choke on a piece of hotdog. I stayed calm and handled it correctly and of course, she lived. It was really scary though and afterwards I started sobbing. I am deathly afraid that I will have to handle this situation w/ my own child. I'm never going to allow her to eat anything larger than peas.

It's not really heights or falling that scare me. Must be the sudden stop. Still, I don't skip around on top of waterfalls...

RE: Biggest fears
I am fortunate enough to have an unreasonable fear of water. Not the water itself though, oh no, it is the lake monster that I fear. I know it is stupid but I can't help it. I still swim but I am paranoid the entire time. When I bump into a submerged rock, my heart races and I want to get out right away.
Anyone have any ideas to help me get over it? You know like hypnotherapy, face your fear, lobotomy?

The Ocean. Sharks and stuff like that. If I'm at the beach, I don't go out more than about knee deep.
Spiders kinda freak me out too.

RE: Biggest fears
i dont get scared that easy. i hate swimming when the water is deep, but i dont hate water (i am an avid sailor).. what freaks me out the most is other peoples paranoia or crazy reaction to their own fear. unless their reation is about something that i just find funny.

Foster's Lager is the biggest can of beer! I know you can also get these 1-gallon beers that are in a mini-keg can that you have to tap. However, I'd have to say the biggest beer would be a half-keg (of yer favorite beer, of course)!

RE: Biggest fears
I agree w/ walkindude. I am not a big fan of the ocean. Too many scary things out there. I was with a girl when she was stung by a jellyfish in 18 inches of water.

I also have a fear of flying. I hate airplanes.

I'm not afraid of flying. It's crashing that scares the heck out of me.
I'm always afraid I'm forgetting something. I get like a chicken without his head running around for something, but what is it? I usually figure it out when I'm half way to wherever. Did you remember the coffee pot?

RE: Biggest fears
Murky lakes. I think it stems from when I was a kid, flying off a rope swing, plummeting to the bottom of the lake and getting my foot entangled in an underwater tree branch. Branches in the water tend to really wig me out.

RE: Biggest fears
Lurking the boards again. I am gifted to have no fear of much of anything- except for being incapicated to the point of helplessness and the safety of my kids on that one I'm a major coward. On the swimming in a lake thing, I had that one and killed it by doing it a lot. If you do what you're afraid of doing the fear dies, or so I'm told.

RE: Biggest fears
I'm only scared of one thing--not heights, spiders, snakes, flying, dark or any of the normal stuff.

I used to be scared of deep water, but I forced myself, at 34 years of age, to get over that one. I still hesitate, but if I fall in I don't drown or freak out anymore.

The one thing that gives me the wacko creeps--don't laugh--is moths.

I FREAK OUT AT MOTHS! I have no idea why. A spider can crawl on my in my sleeping bag and I say, "oh, a spider is on me. Oh well." If a moth comes by my instincts take over and I flail and thrash in a murderous convulsive fit until it is dead. They are so disgusting and revolting with their fat gut filled bodies and their ugly dusty powdery hairy carcasses. EEWWWW! What is wrong with me?

SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!

I fear mold, like moldy bread, or moldy cheese! I also fear sour milk, and I always smell it before I use it. One time I eat a moldy Crumpet, and not till I was done did my mom exclaim, "Oh god don't eat that, it's covered in mold". Bug on lettuce or other leafy greens makes me ill, BARF SANDWICH!

Sometimes, I get wigged out about heights, like from places that would be easy to fall. That frog's head camera retrieval from Red River Gorge last year was just a tad scary for me.

Now I have two things in common with Tarpy; where will it end! We both like bikes, and fear bugs in lettuce.

Tarpy, did you ever take a close look at spinach or romaine lettuce? They are full of bugs.

RE: Biggest fears
I'm also scared of the thought of driving a motorcycle. My brother was trying to teach me how to drive one and I wrecked it and bashed it up some. I was OK. I hit the ground and rolled. The bike came skidding passed me. I think driving one would be fun but I'm chicken sh!t now.

Snakes don't bother me. I like to go looking for them. I'll keep a respectable distance from the poisionous ones (3 or 4 feet). While we were in Florida a couple of weeks ago, we went canoeing with I-am-OM. A water snake got in the baot with me. At first it looked like a Copperhead. Once I got a good look, I could see it wasn't. Then I picked him up and tossed him out.
