He was fantastic.” 7:26:58 PM 9/18/08 “i've been trying all day wednesday, yesterday, and will be trying again today to win tickets to a private john mellencamp concert...A&E is starting a new series called "Back Were We Started" where they take musicians and have them play the same venue they played their first concert in...he'll be playing in the historic Crump Theater in Columbus IN, a place I used to go to all the time as a kid to see $1 movies...the only way to get tickets for the show is to win them from a radio station” 5:10:28 AM 9/19/08 “I finally got to see Opeth, a concert I've been waiting to see for years. I was almost a little afraid what they would be like live. Progressive death metal is hard to pull off live and have it sound right. They were unfukcingbelieveable! They hit every single note perfectly. The crowd was good too. I've never seen so many guys in black t shirts in my life. Pretty calm crowd too. No moshing except for one dick who started running through the crown running into people but someone grabbed him and beat the shyt out of him. I'll see this band every time they come within 3 hours of me.” 8:17:56 AM 11/01/08 Cirque du Soleil “Not exactly a concert, but does contain music, I saw Cirque du Soleil for the first time, and it was very good. I saw the Corteo version. I was invited to see the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, but I think I'll pass. I think they are some type of rock orchestra that does holiday tunes. Anyone ever see them?” 6:35:02 PM 11/01/08 “I like those type of shows too LH. We saw the Blue Man Group's How to be a Rock Star this year and it was very well done.” 4:59:36 AM 11/02/08 “I went and saw State of Shock, Papa Roach, Seether and Stained last night. I wasn't really excited for this show because I'm not a huge fan of any of them. But I was pleasantly surprised. I had never even heard of State of Shock out of Van Couver Can. and was not thrilled at having to sit through a fourth band but they were really fun. They weren't over hyping and clique` like a lot of openers who do all the rock moves and suck. They were just having fun playing. They're pretty straight up rock but still have a good sound. Papa Roach who I don't even care for much was the show stealer. They just knocked the walls down and tore it up. They have a true connection to their fans and there are few things as fun to watch as a band as into the fans as the fans are to them. Seether, who do actually like, was good but their sound was a bit too shrill and a lot of the music was lost behind feedback and echo. Hurt the ears a little too. Stained was alright. They had great sound but the excitement of Papa Roach just wasn't there. If Aaron wasn't just standing there leaning on the mic stand he was just slowly walking around singing like he was in his apartment. I think the bass players was nailed to the floor too but the lead guitarist was jumping around like he was making up for the whole band.” 10:10:21 AM 11/23/08 “oh dang I would've loved to be there I went to a battle of the bands last night that was decent but nowhere near as good as that would've been FYI staind doesn't have an "e" in it :)” 5:58:21 PM 11/23/08 “Told ya I wasn't a fan. LOL!” 7:41:02 PM 11/23/08 “Man, so many great shows are coming around I hope I can hit them all. This month I'm going to see Shinedown then Sevendust with Black Lable Society. In March Days of the New are playing in Cincinnati but I'm going on a trip. :( It's a rare show for sure. In may Opeth is coming back around but I doubt I can get anyone to go with me. In June I'm for sure going to see Johnny A and then Chris Botti.” 1:10:00 PM 3/06/09 “I've Disturbed coming up on the 25th of March. Then Arlo Guthrie on April 12 (i know - how different can ya get, right?) and then Back Door Slam on the 19th!” 3:12:43 PM 3/06/09 “Arlo Guthrie? Didn't know he's still touring - that's kinda awesome” 3:30:01 PM 3/06/09 “i know, when i saw the ad, i was shocked. I'm really lookin forward to it. It's in a small theatre as well, so it should be a great show. Incidentally, there's a restaurant out here called "Aunt Alice's Restaurant" I've been thinking of swiping a menu to see if I could get him to sign it.” 4:01:59 PM 3/06/09 “Southern Culture on the Skids on April 26th. Woo Hoo!” 6:00:53 PM 3/06/09 “Awesome! I'm also going to disturbed. Sevendust and dope is coming up, hed pe; fair to midland and lastly red I went to bobaflex twice then accidentally saw some death metal band... I wouldn't call that music. ;” 6:13:05 PM 3/06/09 “I saw Arlo Guthrie in the 80's he did all the old classics..and John Hartford and Jerry Jeff Walker great show” 10:24:55 PM 3/06/09 An Evening With a Legend “Arlo Guthrie held forth last night at the Boulder Theatre. He did two sets and was on stage for about 2.5 hours. It was him wiht guitars and harmonica, a backup band, his son, Abe, played keyboards and the Burns Sisters sang backup. He'd sing a song, tell a story, sing some more, tell more story.... just as you'd have expected. He looked pretty good to be 68 years old. It was one of the most enjoyable shows I've been to. He didn't do Alice's Restaurant (didn't expect it), but he did do one planned encore and then one that he probably hadn't planned as part of the show. When he came back out he said: "Thank you all - it's been a lot of fun being with you here tonight, but its becoming very clear to me that yall just don't understand! That was the coldest beer that I ever almost drank!" He did songs from Huey Ledbetter, Hoyt Axton... some that his dad (Woody) wrote - including a couple that apparantly he's put to music from various notes and scribbles found and put together after Woody passed away. We even got too all sing along to "This Land is Your Land". With a pause between verses for a little story tellin. :)” 8:21:04 AM 4/13/09 “I went to the worst concert I've ever been to last month. The line up was Dope opening for Sevendust opening for Black Lable Society. Now I've been waiting some 10 years to see Black Lable live because they generally don't come near enough or they're doing the frickin' Ozzfest thing so I was all cranked up to finally see them. It was in a small theater in Covington Kentucky. They over sold the show so much I was stuck standing shoulder to shoulder in the bar/lobby section which is way above stage level so I couldn't even see anything. I sure was glad I took a whole day off work, paid $40 for tickets and drove 2 hours to stand in a phucking lobby.” 11:09:29 AM 4/13/09 “It's outdoor music festival time again! ”3:56:55 PM 5/12/10 “Last night, I saw a brilliant and hysterically funny woman perform. At first sight, you'd think she was a guy was in drag. Stage name: Meow Meow. Performing in New York next week (if I lived there, I'd pay the 25 and go see her again). http://www.meowmeowrevolution.com/press.html” 6:44:59 AM 9/30/10 “Going to see Elephant Revival sat night. Coolest band with a washboard player you'll ever see.” 9:02:45 AM 9/30/10 “Arlo Guthrie tonight, Boulder CO. should be...... awesome.” 12:58:57 PM 4/20/11 “Poco is playing at the music fest in Helena, AR this weekend but I promised my daughter we would go to the coast. She gets a little suspicious when I take her to see 70's acts. Jim "Dandy" Mangrum scared her a little when we went to see Black Oak Arkansas.” 1:29:36 PM 4/20/11 “Chili the last time I went to the King Biscuit in Helena I was afraid for my life. That is turning into a rough town.” 2:15:43 PM 4/20/11 “Jim "Dandy" Mangrum scared me a little..” 2:22:18 PM 4/20/11 “I just learned to play "city of new Orleans" , I was inspired by Spam. Went thru a faze in the 80s where I listened to Alice's restaurant each morning to start the workday..it was the drugs I guess.” 5:08:37 PM 4/20/11 “After work, driving to Tulsa to see Kool and the Gang open up for Van Halen w/David Lee Roth ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!” 7:30:32 AM 5/01/12 “mullets and afros mullets and afros everywhere” 5:12:13 PM 5/01/12 “How was that show Strat? I keep meaning to pick up the new record. DLR was BIG in 1978... as I recall..” 4:16:01 AM 5/02/12 “My face is still melted from EDDIE'S solo! Totally worth the ringing in the ears and lack of sleep! The Tulsa BOK is a great venue, we'd never been there before.” 4:51:52 AM 5/02/12 Jump to Page << prev
