You are so right Yogisan / Humans kill more Bears than they kill Humans...so who is the Preditor! I was in the town of Hot springs NC at a outfitter store and the AT goes right by this gear shop. While in the store we all herd a loud HORN blowing comming through town so we all shuffled to the fron door and windows to see what in sam heck is going on....Some RED NECK was riding through town with a black Bear he had killed laying in the back of his truck with the Tailgate down , head semi dangling off the back.. Made me sick and i don't want to even go there on what I was thinking.....

Everyone in the store it seemed lost there breath and we all looked at each other. You could read everyon's minds. If this guy would have stopped and come in side I prolly would have been escorted out of the store.
I am not saying I HATE hunting... I am saying this idiot has a serious EGO problem.
It changed my entire day into one I just wanted to go home.

they are so clearly sentient, thinking, emotional creatures. i consider it a privilege to see them in the wild.

...but i will confess that prosecutors bear burgers are a rare treat but pros is a very responsible and skilled hunter.

this recent cow abuse things is REALLY sitting with my wrong. now that i think about eating bear and i am really wondering why i stopped being a vegetarian... i did it for MANY years easily and happily. it's only been the last few years i gave it up. to tell the truth i don't like it that much.

When I seen that cow abuse ordeal , it really made me think about who we are as a race.

when I was 12 years old , my uncle took me bear hunting in WV. He shot a Bear, the Bear ran down hill just a short way MOANING and yelping then quickly died. I have never forgotten that moment and I have never eaten Bear meat. When my Uncle hung this bear and had skinned it out with it's head off I went over to take a good look at the Bear and it reminded me what a human might look like hung there...arms and legs dangling with a big trunk like a human.....

In some of the angles it looks like a young bear. In others it looks really big! Happy I wasn't there.

Sounds like the bear safety class was time well spent. Nobody panicked, nobody got hurt, nobody had to shoot a bear. A win/win/win. Add to that some great photo opportunities.

The only way to outrun a bear is if it didnt really want to catch you.

I agree - the last thing to do is to run from a bear cause it makes the bear think you are prey - its almost as bad climbing a tree to get away from a black bear
