Carry-on Luggage “I need to know the largest size knapsack airlines will permit to be carried onto a domestic flight. My son is off to Fla and needs to fit his stuff into one carry-on bag. He'll be using it for this trip, hiking and as a school back pack (in the new year.) Weight is not a concern, but size and durability is. He is brutal on his equipment. Any suggestions would be appreciated (well, most suggestions, that is!)” 9:42:59 AM 11/14/00 RE: Carry-on Luggage “LL Bean will replace packs for free if they get destroyed from over use.” 10:28:46 AM 11/14/00 RE: Carry-on Luggage “The standard for carry on luggage is 9" X 14" X 22" and 50lbs max. Although I swear that some of the carry on bags are way bigger than this. Try calling the airline to see what they say.” 11:12:00 AM 11/14/00 RE: Carry-on Luggage “I don't think that an airline would stop anyone from bring on a normal sized book bag, or even a not-too-huge day pack.” 12:20:16 PM 11/14/00 RE: Carry-on Luggage “Things are always changing at the airport, so it's good to give your airline a call. They have gotten more strict in the last year about carry on pieces. A soft piece of luggage works very well for take on.” 12:34:15 PM 11/14/00
