outside of the U.P. and Isle Royale
Mitten only. Everything else is too far of a drive for right now. What about southern Wisconsin?

Jordan River Pathway? Manistee River Trail/NCT loop? Sleeping Bear Dunes? something else?

I'd say either the U.P. or Isle Royale. Oh, wait.....

We kinda like the Hoist Lakes area near Grayling/Mio. I'll check with Tarabull to see if she has some other choices besides the ones you named above.

Tarabull echoed the Hoist Lakes area, the Manistee River Trail/NCT loop, and threw in the High Country Pathway. Shoot one of us an email for maps or info if you need to.

North and south manitou island are both really good, also if you want a hike that is unique check out noordhouse dunes. Manistee River Trail is by far one of my favorite places to go.

If you don't mind doubling back, there are parts of the NCT that are really cool. Areas that include Udell Hills (north or south of it) are nice.
