Tick season is looking bad in New Hapshire and Mass this year - maybe because of the mild winter. How are ticks doing elsewhere?

Horrible in Nashville. We have a record setting year selling yard treatments and we aren't even out of May.

I guess that's good for those in the business. Lyme disease keeps spreading geographically - this may be the worst year ever.

I hate ticks, especially on my kids. Scares the hell out of me

I'll probably treat my hiking clothing a couple more times this year - permethrin has been my friend for the last few years - no ticks or chiggers so long as I use it and long pants / long sleeve shirts

The Ozarks is no exception. Thank God I have the chickens or they'd be much worse at my house in the woods....

For Hog and others who use Permethrin - do you just spray it on the clothes and let them dry? How many washes do you trust it for?

Wish I could have some chickens here.

yes - I use the pump spray stuff to spray it on my clothes - other people will use the soak technique - in any case I only spray on a calm day outside and then let the clothes dry for a few hours outdoors before using them - obviously I want them completely dry before use

I generally trust the stuff for about 6 washings.

I was walking in a cemetery the other day and the ticks were just crawling up my legs. I have never seen so many. I eventually headed rather quickly for the truck and cleaned them off me and got in quickly. Unbelievable.

I came back from the swamp the other day and had about 5 ticks on me. My coworker had at least 10 on him. Seems to be really bad this year.

that reminds me, one of my tick bites still isn't healed all the way [2 weeks old]...should be concerned?

Does it have a bullseye Gem?

I'm contantly picking ticks off the kittens and I've got 30 or so free range chickens. Thinking about getting guinea hens, but they are really noisy.

na, no bullseye...it just does not heal. Wasn't a deer tick either, it was one of those larger ticks.

I don't know if you should be concerned Gem. I guess I'd be more worried if the wound looked irritated or if it itched/
