Trinity Alps anyone?View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 5 of 5 messages posted.
Trinity Alps anyone? “Which is a good trailhead to Trinity Alps. I'm from California and have pretty much exhausted the Sierras for a while. Anyone hae something to tell me about the Trinity Alps? Also anyone have plans to bp it in July or end of Aug.?” 11:24:06 PM 5/16/12 “Last year early in the season I hiked up the North Fork Trinity from Hobo Gulch Campground towards Grizzly Lake. It was great, but the trailhead was chosen to keep us out of the snow. Later in the season I prolly would have chosen Stuart Fork or one of the trailheads on the north side and gone straight for the high country. I don't think you can go wrong in the Trinities. There's a lot to love and more laid back than the Sierra. I'd love to go with you but all my vacation was spoken for in a hurry this year.” 5:05:18 AM 5/17/12 “And I really shouldn't let you get a way with saying you've "exhausted the Sierras." ;-)” 5:07:30 AM 5/17/12 “I've been there once...LOVED it but be prepared for extra steep :) the views are awesome....TONS of bears. More bears there then I think there are in the whole sierra lol so you must HANG everything even if you are leaving camp for a few minutes in the daytime. When I was there, there was a burn ban, no fires at all allowed, even stoves but that was like 9 years ago so that may have changed. :)” 6:00:25 AM 5/17/12 “Exhausted the Sierra? Man, in the next 20 years I hope I still can't say that and I've been out since the early mid-70's. However, there is more to Kalifornia than LA, SF or the Sierra. Duane” 7:58:16 AM 5/17/12
