lost my How To Indentify books “Years ago, I had a group of small booklets that helped you identify trees, flowers, animal tracks, etc. I think there were 5 or 6 of them, I remember the covers being yellow, green, brown, not sure of the rest, about 3"x5", maybe $5 or $6 apiece (20 years ago). They'd ask a series of questions (if it's like this, go to page 6, if that, go to page 18) with illustrations. I've misplaced them and would like to get another set. If anybody is familiar with these, or something similar, please point me in the right direction. I can't remember the exact titles or who published them.” 5:39:45 PM 4/06/12 “How To Indentify books? Although they could be made from thin bark or skins of animals using sheets of slate as bindings, most will be leafs of 20 wt paper bound on the left side and covered by a leather or cardboard cover.” 6:04:37 PM 4/06/12 “Haha hyway! Haycee, I have one for trees that's exactly like you described. I got it from my father in law but it's printed by the county extention service. Might be a good place to start looking. I haven't found a tree yet that you can't easily identify with it. It's actually kind of fun.” 5:33:59 AM 4/07/12 “Really Strat? Weeping willow...freekin crybabies!” 9:17:55 AM 4/07/12 “Way back when we got a set just like that in the Smokies, but the information was not Smokies-specific.” 1:46:39 PM 4/07/12 “Yeah, come to think of it, mine's Common Trees of Arkansas. But I mean there's almost 200 trees in it so it's gone cover most of them....... Except for Weeping Willows...” 4:07:32 AM 4/08/12 “were the covers a plastic type material? http://www.amazon.com/National-Audubon-Society-Field-American/dp/0394507606/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1333936466&sr=8-1” 6:55:00 PM 4/08/12 “Now why didn't we think of that, Opie?” 4:09:33 AM 4/09/12 “Finally found the right combination of search terms. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=finder+nature+study+guides Opie, looks like they are very similar in style” 7:18:47 PM 4/19/12 “I have the third one down "Tree Finder - Eastern US". Found it at one of the National Park gift shops. Funny thing is....I found it at Lassen Volcanic National Park....not GSMNP.” 8:45:25 PM 4/19/12
