Clarification on obscenity and moderatio n

“There seems to be some misunderstanding regarding what moderators are doing about obscenity. One rule of thumb is that obscenity includes all the words that would be deleted by the auto censor which has been in use for well over a decade.

This does not mean there is a rule against typing in "#&%!$" - what it refers to is slipping words past the auto-censor, for example by posting a photo. Some might accuse us of being overzealous, but I don't believe any of us want to censor things that have been appearing in the Sunday funnies for decades.”

Would it matter if the pic has been posted on here many times over many years starting when Matt owned the site through various stages of demand media's influence on this site? Or is the moderation now ongoing stricter than matt and other moderators?”
