Need some help please:)
Hi everyone, I recently just moved to the Albany area and was wondering if there was by chance any decent trails that allow overnight tent camping? I'm not looking for a public resort, more of a wild wilderness situation.

Thanks all :)

OK from Albany NY you have two long trails that would be easily reachable with a couple hours of travel - the Long Path going from Altamont down through the Catskills is slightly west of Albany and of course to the east there is the Appalachian Trail with one close access point being in Dalton MA

general overview of these two trails can be seen in this page: http://www.nynjtc.org/overview-map

There is always the AT. And you might find some good locations along the Finger Lakes Trail, which is about 563 miles long. Also, it has a number of spur trails.

for trails in the Daks you may want to check into the http://www.adk.org website - it depends if you are looking for a long trail or just camping and relatively short trails
