AT Section hike thru GSMNP

“Set up shuttle at Fontana Dam, head to Davenport Gap to start early Tuesday. Approx 10am start.

I have reserved 3 spots in each of the shelters, and I have 2 open. Paces differ, so we hike our hike, and accordion, yo-yo, leap-frog, or just meet up at the next shelter.

11/22 - Cosby Knob
11/23 - Pecks Corner
11/24 - Mt. Collins
11/25 - Derricks Knob
11/26 - Mollies Ridge

If we get into a groove and get ahead of schedule we can shave a day off, if we are having fun the schedule stands.

The backcountry office stated there are 1-2 spots left at each shelter, but this being Thanksgiving, i doubt we will have a full house.

“Just got a call that Icewater Springs is closed due to bear activity. This throws a wrench in my section hike.

Options:
--wait, and hope it clears a week from now.
--Start at Kephart, and hike up to Pecks Corner?
--Start at NFG, vs Clingmans and push to Pecks - shortening the trip by a day”
