“I'm taking the family to the porkies in a few weeks for a long weekend. We are going to stay in a cabin and do some day hiking, but I'm also looking for some other non-hiking stuff to do.
Any suggestions on cool stuff to do or see? Any really good restaurants in the area we should hit?”
“I am not expert. You need smokygirl for that.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g55383-d414162-Reviews-Back_Porch_Restaurant-Townsend_Tennessee.html used to be where'd I'd go. Some reviews say "too crowded, and not as good" lately. We've always had good luck with it. Typically the earlier the better.
http://www.theironhorsestation.com/ is the other place [hot springs, tn] I think we used to go, if its the same one [peddlers porch maybe?] with name change.”
“Some folks love to do the pancake place. Here's a good all-around link though.
hiking dayhikes?.. we did all six routes up and back [all we knew about at the time] to LeConte over Memorial day weekend once.”
“Hot Springs is in North Carolina, but the bigger question is WTF any of those have to do with the Porkies?”
“I guess I'm confused. I was assuming he meant the Smokies, but used the Porkies as a joke?
Is there really a "porkies?"”
“haha yea. The Porcupine Mountains are up in the UP of Michigan by Ontonagon.”
“So, it's true, one really can teach an old Dawg new tricks!
