“I can view TT from work, but not personal emails. Maybe instead of partially hijacking other threads, we can use this one for communicating and for communicating the last hours before a upcoming trip since I would not be able to see my emails. Andy does have my work email, I asked him to only use that in an emergency. He may have lost it also.

“Got home, no power, not a good sign when the power company has a couple trucks a block away. Another couple feet of snow this last week while I was away to work. About five feet now on the ground, over two feet alone where I had cleared paths last weekend. Power came back on while I was working outside. Hate to think what the higher elevations of the Sierra Nevada are getting. Gonna be a late bp season out here in CA.”

“66 to 67 where I live by mid week. I won't flood, but other areas it will be high. When it snows then turns to rain, then I get water on half my acre if it rains hard. Most water I have seen in six years of driving to NV for work, the Sierra Valley, head waters of the Middle Fork of the Feather River, farmland is covered, hope Portola will be ok, they had issues a few weeks ago almost. I haven't been down to the creek thru my place for a month, that was before all these storms. Maybe I can cut a path to my woodshed this coming weekend, so I don't have to bring it thru my house to put on the other deck. It'll be nice to see the coast, some dirt for a change.”

I for one am planning on staying. Perhaps I won't be staying in a 'designated' camp site but who is going to come looking for me to kick me out if everyone is furloughed? It's not like there is a 'gate' to keep me out.

And are they really going to close down Yosemite for the third time in just over 45 days?”

“They are telling people that if the shutdown occurs that people will need to leave the park on Saturday. But if you are in the backcountry I doubt they are coming out to get you. So go in on Friday before 11:59PM.”

“Sandy, called Pt Reyes, if we all show up by Friday night, which we are going to do, we will be allowed to stay for the weekend. Had not heard from Andy and I did not want to drive for five hours to find out I better go home. See you midday, I'm headed over Donner after 6AM tomorrow, coffee/pee break in Auburn. Should be good roads I'm hoping and don't have to chain up.”

“What a gorgeous day in Northern California after our hail, snow, and tornado storms from yesterday. Perfect weather for backpacking.”

“I had a great time. Got my butt kicked by a bunch of people younger than me AND Duane. Beautiful campsites, waterfalls, and weather. Don't be fooled by thinking backpacking at the shore indicates easy hiking. Point Reyes does have a few 'short' hills along the way. Lot's of wildflowers blooming too!”

“:) Hey, wait a minute, why did I not get included with the younger people? What are you trying to say?:) A lot of sun sc, some cloudiness, but overall a great weekend. Saturday when we left Sky Camp, we could see some fog off shore a short ways but not much. After the folks whose butts got kicked by the warmup hike to Glen Camp, we hiked down to Wildcat and to the falls. I scouted some before we left camp, while waiting for all to get some rest. We had lots of good natured ribbing and fun and we weren't even drunk. Sandy got to meet a bunch of new people and I got to meet just two new bp folks of the six of us who went.”

“That is great. Glad you guys have a nice time. Backpacking on sand is haarrrd. Sounds like a beautiful weekend.”

“I'm organizing a trip Mother's Day weekend, did not check the date when I threw this out to our small NorthCA Hiking group, got an invite from mtnsteve the same weekend, had to turn it down. Bummer. Four going to Desolation over that weekend counting me, our trip will be more scenic though.”

“I will be joining Steve. Your trip will be harder and still 'Winter'. Plus aren't you going for a long week-end?”

“Hi Sandy, yes, I have Monday off, so Heide and I will be out two nights, sounds like Rich is going to try for Friday night thru Sunday night. I'll know more later as I shoot out emails to those interested. It will be hard getting out of Granite Lake, may shoot for Azure, Kalmia as plan B. Gonna miss Steve's trip, those are fun and great people. Oh well.”

“I have a permit for Desolation Wilderness, Mother's Day weekend, May 7-9, Bayview TH. Two spots now, one cancellation and one no reply. Dick's Lake first night, Granite Lake Sunday night for a quick exit, although the folks who needed a quick out on Monday can't make it now. Should still be lots of snow way back in there. Three of us guys from NorthCA Hiking, a Yahoo group are going. Snowshoes and two sleeping pads or a DAM required along with the regular stuff.

“Anyone headed to the snow this weekend or next? Going car camping on the Plumas this weekend with a former neighbor after I cut a few loads of firewood as I have a four day weekend, the 4th is up in the air with all the snow still at 6000'. Only a three day weekend over the 4th which is fine.

“Hikerduane - Yep. Climbing on Shasta with Toejam, Precision, Roseymonter, Jerbear, and a couple others. We will be up at Castle Crags Friday night and then on the mountain Saturday. Might be an opportunity to see MtnSteve if he can drive up but not sure Hope fully the weather holds out and the winds are calm. Climbers turned back all week for 100 mph winds. Couple people airlifted off due to injuries from falling - windy!”

“I will be in California July 15th-17th. Any weekend suggestions or TT'ers available for Yosemite, Point Reyes, along the coast north towards Mendocino, or even Mount Shasta area.

The suggestions I can figure out....I want finally meet some of you west coasters!”
