No they aren't. Some right wing blog is taking articles deliberately out of context - par for the course for some very cynical folks.

Compare this slimy piece of misrepresentation to the real article linked below it:

http://biggovernment.com/jhoft/2011/02/01/predictable-media-matters-blames-jews-for-egypt-crisis/

http://politicalcorrection.org/fpmatters/201101280006

Note the real article taken deliberately out of context and spread like wildfire contains the sentence "Few would argue that the imminent collapse of the Mubarak regime (and other Middle East dictatorships) derives from the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Neither Egyptians nor Tunisians are risking and losing their lives for Palestinians. They are doing it for themselves. They want freedom."

Here's the thing. You have people like Boner, who are completely lying!

Boehner, R-Ohio, went even further, praising the Obama administration response and calling for the U.S. to continue supporting Egypt's move to democracy, adding: "What we don't want are radical ideologies to take control of a very large and important country in the Middle East."

So, on one hand, he's saying, sure, free and open elections (that is critical component of a democracy) and then on the other hand saying, but it really can't be certain groups in charge.

Same old double-speak from the right wingnuts...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110203/ap_on_re_us/us_gop_egypt_politics

"Trying to set the tone for their party, House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, the country's two top elected Republicans, have deferred to the Democratic president. They are signaling an unwillingness among the GOP leadership in Congress to pick a fight, in line, at least on this issue, with the tradition that politics stops at the waters' edge in the midst of foreign crises."

"But others, including the often-vocal Sarah Palin, have been silent. And a few, like former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, are treading carefully as each day of demonstrations in Egypt brings more turmoil."

They have an opinion about everything else, but not this? Figures.

I have absolutely NO problem with that. I do have a problem with directing our government to do that (which seems to come from the people unwilling to do it themselves, incidentally).

Derp. There is no disconnect. The MB is internally split, but if the radicals do gain power, they WILL work to end democratization, even though democratization is what their public face is now.

It's not a monolithic entity, Stratdood. Saying they have one goal is highly inaccurate. The MB faces competition from secularists and other religious conservatives. They face structural hurdles to their participation in govt. The military is a counter balance.

The MB sharing power might not be a catastrophe IF the younger cohort comes out dominant. If the hard-core old timers win out, then all bets are off.
