Thinking I could drive down to Nashville and meet at a wallyworld or a sam's club leave the car.”

“sticks - I am kicking around the idea of doing a 2-day AT hike from Max Patch to Davenport Gap after Linville. So I might not be going home right after.

“The base camp 3 miles up the hwy. Is it the area just before a small car park on the left? Or the camping area at the end of the road?
And are you heading North or south on it?

Hwy is not exactly accurate. It's a gravel road. Last year it was totally ice, I could only make it part way in my civic. Opportunities to park along the way however. The grade was the problem, don't sweat it tho, someone will give you a ride or you could walk it in no time.”

I was actually trying to locate the area for the base camp.
The road runs roughly North South, 3miles from which end?
I see one area 3.2 miles from the North end and then the top of the mtn area with the look outs.
