“"And charter schools huh, you don't know what you're talking about. "
Sure do. 11 years in Education and married to an educator that has worked in schools for over 18 years.
Generally, the charter school system (for profit schools) do not provide a better education than public; per the charter schools information. Plus, charters can shut down in the middle of the school year without notice for a variaty of reasons. Edison went belly up not too long ago; when that happened the Edison school that sapped a bunch of kids from our local public district where without a place of education right at the last 2 months of the school year.
Don't be sad for my kids. They get a top notch public education. They are growing academically very nicely. They would never set foot in a charter.
We've talked with more than a few charter teachers and what they have told us is nothing short of disappointing. Too much focus on keeping stats and not on education. Working conditions are not as good as public ed, even with Big Dick screwing us.
You see, when you have to please shareholders instead of the citizenry, children will suffer.
No worries; Big Dick is on his way OTD on his ass the next election cycle.
"Q, you telling anyone that "your just playing into their hands" is as insane as it is asinine! "
Nope, the Right has proven time and again that they can sway the weak-minded with Hobbsian fear and racism -- ahem, or should I say -- fear of "the other" ...
The Right is pretty good at doing that. They count on people having short memories.
Again, no worries. Obama in a landslide.”
“Meanwhile, back in reality:
Obamascare , here's the problem~ eventually it will run out of money just like it has everywhere else it's ever been tried. And when that heppens, just like it has with SS, Medicare, medicaid, the post office, they will raise prices AND cut services,'just lime they have everywhee else it's ever been tried. You won't be able to keep your insurance as Oblame-a promised, becAuse they will all be out of business, just like this scam is designed to do. Research and innovation will grind to a halt. SEIU will move in an unionize the entire industry, artificially driving up costs even more, just like they do everywhere they go. It's horrible legislation that doesn't fix the problems. Oh and the biggest tax increase in history.... That's weird”
“Saul Alinsky taught the progressives that the ends justify ANY means to gain political ground. So lying is nothing to them. Here's a perfect example. Many people are going to loose their coverage right away. The rest(you and me) will follow.
HHS TARGETS HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS
They are lying to you. They passed the bill and now we're finding out what's in the bill....”
“"Obamascare , here's the problem~ eventually it will run out of money just like it has everywhere else it's ever been tried. "
Prove it beyond a reasonable doubt using primary sources, dood.”
“As to the rest of your post, nothing but a bunch of scare tactics. Run! Run away from the nasty Unionized Commies!!
You don't know that we've been down this road before; like 60 years ago.
Take the needle off the record; it's been skipping way too long, dood.”
“Q that's horrible about your charter system ..... we're way way different from that down here in hillbilly NC. O an I'm not sad for your specific kids, I know you be doing right by them, I'm sad for Michigan kids.
My 3 go to a charter school, most definitely not a for-profit outfit! We are funded, same as public school, well similarly anyhow, because we are a public school. We just write our own bi-laws. We pick the learning style, how heavy we want each subject groupings, many things.
You did bring up a good point of a problem we do have, we are not a stable entity.
Something we HAVE to curtail .... monitor closely and secretly curtail, is admissions for retarded kids. Being a public school, we cannot turn away an entrant. Naturally we're an attractant for hyper hypos and Ridelin junkies, of which we handle extremely well, in fact mainstreaming them in no time (well, our version of mainstreaming). We get the gothics, and the disturbingly unusual ones too, some of which are kept a file and eventually ejected .... we at least do have that capability, where-as our public schools don't. Simply put, we don't get the state funds that normal, larger schools get to handle and hire staff for the retards, the difficult ones anyhow. We HAVE to demonstrate a fair lottery system for those many kids awaiting for our nine grades. A cute kid in Kindergarden this past year will never incorporate himself into the larger scheme of things, must have adult supervision every second while at school, and most certainly a frequent disturbance for all of our lower grade activities. We at the school must do more to influence this fair lottery activity, I'm sad to say, to protect future viability. Next year another kid who is severely mentally handicapped awaits his lotto too, as does his desperate Mom. I feel for the Mom, she wants what's best for her son, which is most definitely NOT public school, but I feel for our school more than I feel for that protective Mom. The second boy will be a greater burden than what our school can provide, period. In four weeks I'll choose the lesser of the 2 difficulties.
Q this very scenario is playing out in 3 Flarda charter schools, all 3 of which will likely have to close it's doors, than meet the required demands of the inclusionary laws.
Politically, we differ on quite simple terms: You hate the Right, Love the Left "Obama in a landslide"; I hate the Left, Hate the Right "It won't matter". In a nutshell this is where you and I stand.
But most ppl that are choosing 1 side over the other are nothing but fooling themselves into a little bit more time of pretending and hoping eventual stabilization. If you pull for Romney, simply put it's pretending and hoping, and if you orgasmically support Brobama, it's the same as them other guys, nothing but smoke and mirrors and pretending and hoping...... the amount of Blowbama junkies still hooked on that Hope and Change crack boggles the mind.”
“Hey Q Can you count? 15.7 TRILLION in Debt”
“"O an I'm not sad for your specific kids, I know you be doing right by them, I'm sad for Michigan kids."
Why, because our Republican Governor has decided to gut the sucessful Public Ed system?
Yeah, I would agree.
Speaking of; did you know that the University and K-12 educational system that has been so successful in this country since its inception way back in the mid/late 1800's was created in Michigan?
That system obviously was a little lax some parts east and south west of us but overall that system sure as hell brought us through some dark times and sure helped make us successful.
That wasn't charters that did that. It was good ole public ed.
And judging by most of the posts from your side of the aisle, looks like Republican meddling in the public ed system sure as hell short-shifted y'all.
I'd be really pissed at the Republicans if I were you and strat for leaving you hangin` like that.”
“BTW -- How are liking all those gubmit provided roads you like driving on?
How do you like the low price of gas that has been subsidized by our military and government doing for ya?
You walk on a sidewalk lately?
Got some folks in yer family who are doing alright because they collect a few duckets from the gubmint?
How about the safe airline travel you enjoy while you jetted between countries there, ExPat?
Yeah, government sucks. Let's just get rid of all of things they provide this great land and go back to foraging off of the land.
“Also -- if you get out in the BC, how to do you like all of those nice little trails that get you from point A to point B.
Who will plow the trailhead. Who will you bytch at when it's not cleared?
Are you one of those that expects things to fall out of the sky to your satisfaction without any contribution?
Get back in reality.”
“The reality is we borrow 40 cents out of every dollar we spend. We spend too much. WAY too much. To deny it is infantile, selfish and it's immoral to burden the next generation like that. The reality is that we will crumble very soon if we don't stop the madness. Don't take my word for it, look it up. Nationaldebpclock.org. The official figure is 15 trillion in dept but it's really much much worse. Add up Medicare, Medicaid and social security and it comes to over 100 trillion in unfunded liabilities. The money isn't there because the progressives spent it and there's no way to ever Make up that much ground. You wanna blame Bush? Yeah he had us cruising toward the cliff all right but them Obama floored it and now were going twice as fast at the cliff. People need to grow up and realize that there just isn't enough money to do all the wonderful things we want. Yes some people need help and government has a role but borrowing from Mexico and China at this rate is insanity. It's out of control and if we don't stop it now, our children will never forgive us. Would you? Are you so selfish and eager to get some a them thar gubment goodies that you don't care who pays it back? No one's gonna bail us out. The answer isn't politicians. EFF the republican and Democrat parties. The answer is you an me putting a stop to it now. They work for us. It's our money they are spending. It's our children's futures they are borrowing against. If there's a big gubment rep in your district, fire them. if you have a long term incumbent from either party, FIRE THEM. If the new guy doesn't cut spending and reduce government, fire him. Don't listen to the distractions, the hysterics, the name calling, the drama. You know in your heart it's true. It's irresponsible to let it go on. All the good intentions in the world won't make up for the mess we are making for others to clean up.
Does Romney suck? Hell yeah, he's a progressive and was my last choice. But at least he'll Hit the brakes and
slow us down a bit. Buy us some time. I'm not quite ready like them SC boys are....”
“Q - " Again, no worries. Obama in a landslide.””
“Yawl hear China's footsteps moving up from behind? This Covered Wagon needs more Greece on the wheel bearings.”
“The Hill Poll: Majority of voters believe Obama has changed country for worse
A new poll for The Hill found 56 percent of likely voters believe Obama’s first term has transformed the nation in a negative way, compared to 35 percent who believe the country has changed for the better under his leadership.
“I can't wait to hear the wailing and clamoring from these right wing ostriches come November when he's re-elected... not that I, for a second, support Obama (or any politician, come to think of it)... but such deliberate and forced ignorance of reality and anything even remotely resembling the truth coming from the right ever since Obama took office has been a hoot to watch, and I'm looking forward to another 4 years of it. Or maybe he'll enact that law y'all keep talking about making him president for life, da comrade?”
“Report: 83 percent of doctors have considered quitting over Obamacare
“The 33rd episode of Ground Up Hog Day. Wonder why this country is failing?”
“Even got some dumbocrats voted to repeal it this time. They must be up for reelection....consent of the governed, don'tcha know....”
““The 33rd episode of Ground Up Hog Day. I know why this country is failing?””
“It's failing because of progressive lunacy. DUH!”
“Mike Ross and Dan Boren are not seeking reelection.
On this one you're only wrong 2 out of 5 times.
Guess they just grew a pair and got a conscience then...
“President Obama promised a joint session of Congress in 2009 to spend $900 billion over ten years on his health care law: ‘Now, add it all up, and the plan that I’m proposing will cost around $900 billion over 10 years.’ Adding up all the different spending provisions in the health care law, however, (including closing the Medicare ‘donut hole,’ implementation costs, and other spending) total gross spending over the FY 2010–19 period is about $1.4 trillion, based on CBO estimates,” the Senate Budget Committee Republican staff explains.
“And most of the major spending provisions in the law do not even take effect until 2014. Congressional Democrats delayed these provisions in order to show only six years of spending under the plan in the original 10-year budget window (from FY2010-19) used by CBO at the time the law was enacted. Therefore, the original estimate concealed the fact that most of the law’s spending only doesn’t even begin until four years into the 10-year window. A Senate Budget Committee analysis (based on CBO estimates and growth rates) finds that that total spending under the law will amount to at least $2.6 trillion over a true 10-year period (from FY2014–23)—not $900 billion, as President Obama originally promised.”
“You're still wrong as Ross voted against the bill originally and both voted to repeal it last time.
Don't let being wrong consistently stop you from insulting everyone who disagrees with you though.”
“A dOOdic insult, WHERE!?!?!?!”
“INsult? Uhm yeah ok . So how bout the doubling of the cost? Totally cool with that? Doesn't matter? Free healthcare? Hey it's free! Woohoo! Free free free!”
“The rest of the world passes us by, while we're still fighting our civil war 157 years later.”
“The rest of the world passes us by
In what way?”
“You're a racist, noncom. That's his entire argument. If you Don't want to end capitalism you're a stupid hick racist.”
“Let the weirdness ensue!
Rationing Begins: States Limiting Drug Prescriptions for Medicaid Patients
“Do we still need Medicaid if everything's going to be free? Can't we just go to Target pharmacy and pick what we want? What a ripoff!”
“I'll take some of those little blue ones!”
