Watkins Glen State Park
Waktins Glen State Park is at the southern end of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, just 20 miles from Ithaca and Cornell University. There are 19 waterfalls along the Gorge Trail. I was the chief naturalist for the Finger Lakes State Park Region for 24 years, and I wrote a national award-winning book about the Gorge Trail at Watkins Glen. Learn more about this book at my website at http://owlgorge.com.

Awesome! It's my favorite region (Finger Lakes). Back in 2004, I organized a TT trip there. Forty one of us had an amazing four day vacation, base camped at Robert Treman State Park. The trip included a fantastic cook-off (Cap'n Bobo won with his salmon dish) and displayed a variety of food that could dwarf some buffets I've seen.

But, more on point, Watkins Glen is an absolute gift from mother nature. The park is absolutely breathtaking! I'm going to check out your website, Tony. Thanks...

I loved that area when I went out to visit east coasters in Ithaca some years ago. It really reminds me of Michigan, expect with muh more elevation.

Snix, you were with us the next time around. I didn't get to Watkins Glen on the first trip. We did that one with you, Crash, Maple, your missus, my son and his buddy. I'm going to post some links to our pics here. Hope they work...

You wouldn't have to twist my arm too hard to get me out there. I just have to have the time ...

Perhaps. This is going to be a real busy semester for me because it's the final push for the Graduate Certification and Masters. But I will always try to fit something in if I can.

During 2011 I plan to do an e2e (end to end) on The Finger Lakes Trail. It is 563 miles long. Actually, I plan to do two of them. The second one will be a return to my car.
