“I wouldn't agree with that at all, HDP. First of all, your example is a characterization and a red herring.

A better example would be: if a Moderator is like snicker and believes that a statement like "moonbats are silly" comes after a post from a specific poster who has posted an opposing political ideology or position, that comment is a critique on the poster and not the topic being discussed. Therefore: Personal Attack.

If a Moderator is like snicker and believes that a statement like "Obama is a moonbat" is posted in regard to Obama's actions, the comment is still a Personal Attack on the President, but not the poster who posted it. Therefore: Personal Attack is not directed at the poster. Seeing that Obama is a public figure and is not a poster here on this message board, if I were a Moderator, I would not care.

It's pretty clear who, and how and when a poster is trying to skirt the rules regarding personal attacks, and the Moderating staff has a good handle on it.”

As you've said before, and I think it bears repeating, (paraphrasing) if there is something that a poster thinks is borderline, it would be prudent not to post it.

Why take a chance of having to get talked to for a borderline comment? It unnecessarily encumbers the board and Moderating staff. Self-moderation should be a principle and a board courtesy, IMHO.”
