“We just got this e-mail from the Vice Chancellor:
Below is a link to a story on MSN about flooding in west central Arkansas that has killed people at a Forest Service campground. We need to be alert to the possibility of connections with our campus, especially our students.
Tragic to say the least...”
“death toll at 16 now with 3 dozen missing.”
“The title of this tread indicates that the Ark didn't float away in the flood.”
“Really bad news”
“Given the location and the heavy rain, I'm getting flashbacks of our BRT trip last year. With the ridiculous rains we had on that Thursday, and looking at where the campsite was on the map, I decided to stay in a motel the first night. That valley looked vulnerable to a flash flood.
Is the area that got hit by this tragedy similar to the area of our BRT trip?”
“No the little Missouri is in a much tighter valley”
“The count is up to 18 with dozens still missing. SAR is estimating it will take at least 2 weeks to find all the victims.”
“Tragic news. That flash flood even took away the registry....they'll going to have a hard time looking and knowing how many got swept away.”
