Would farting be as much fun without the omnipresent risk of crapping your pants?...or vice versa.

Discuss.

Yes, I am a backpacker and can prove it. My wife had a pilonidal cyst removed from her lower back. While the wound heals, I have to pack it with gauze twice a day. This is true - she can confirm it to the next TT'er we see (probably Maple).

Or is that what you meant? Backpackers, hmmm, what are back packers....?

Are these people who pack after they take a trip, instead of before? Or are they semi-literate Green Bay fans (Packer Backers - Ok, that's a stretch)?

I tried to add, but the apostrophic glitchalization prevented me - so here is the edit:

Oh I almost missed the opportunity to plug my trail journals - you can find 'em if you search "pedxing" at trailjournals.com

roseymonster, you want to be taken seriously? On the other thread you ask me to give you information about my hikes, but you keep antagonizing me (attempt to anyways) by putting my name in the non-backpacker column. You have zero credibility.

Put me down on the non-backpacker list. The last thing I desire when I head into the backcountry is to be walking on a groomed trail with a bunch of identity-seeking suburbanites. And certainly not the alcoholics who pervade Trailtalk. The backpacking "culture" is rather off putting, to put it politely.

That said, I do enjoy humping gear out into wilderness areas. I don't get a chance to nearly as often as I'd like, though.

I just talked to Mutt and Stovestomper (not really) and they want to be on the non-backpacking list with the rest of the cool kids.

Hey, why did John Muir, Colin Fletcher, and Gov Mark sanford get removed from the 'do not list'? Please put them back.

Timothy Treadwell too.

I do backpack. In fact I just mentioned on another thread this week a place I go to backpack.

Mainly a day hiker. But a few nights ago aliens abducted me and left me near the top of a rocky outcrop in the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge. Gave me a tent, pack, and all kinds of gear, so I guess I'm a real backpacker now.

Dear Deirdre,

I have never written to you before but I realy need your advice.

I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me. The usual signs: phone rings, but if I answer the caller hangs up. Going out with "the girls" a lot , but if I ask the names it's "you don't know them". I try to stay awake to look out for her when she comes home but I usually fall asleep.

Anyway last night I decided to finally check on her. About midnight I put on some warm black clothes and went onto the drive and crouched behind my motorbike. A car pulls up a couple of doors away with a man driving and she was in the passenger seat doing up her blouse. They kissed and she got out of the car, got her panties out of her handbag and quickly slipped them on. I moved slightly to get a better view and that's when I noticed it: a hairline crack in the manifold right where it meets the exhaust! Is this something I can fix myself or should I take it back to the dealer?

I should do a separate thread for this trip, but I prolly won't. Benson Hut trip in the northern Sierra beg. of March. Thousands of feet of altitude gain and loss. Went in under ideal conditions and came out three days later in a snow storm. Altitude from about 7K to 10K. Guess who I am.
