Maybe some good advice here, but what Stovie said.

if you decide that youre not going to thru anymore, keep on hiking anyways. skip the sections you dont want to do. go at whatever pace you feel like. PA, NJ, and NY are just meh, CT and MA are nice, VT, NH, and ME are outstanding. the important thing is to have fun and adventure

there is a state park in MD, not far north of Harpers Ferry, go there tomorrow if you are nearby, they have a lake. The high tomorrow is 95. hyway, let me know when you're approaching pine grove furnace state Park in PA.

Tell him how to journal too NA!? Dang dude. He's obviously not man enough to figure it out on his own in your eyes. Let the man do his thing. A hint once in a while is one thing, but dang.

Heh heh heh, nice try troll. He and I are friends actually, and he'll take anything I've said to him or about him as nothing but complimentary. Would you know anything about friends on TT, HPD? Perchance, would ANY of your 7 or 8 useless aliases know anything about friends on TT ??? (Don't bother, it's another rhetorical question.)

Brother hyway, you're in our prayers. Whether you trudge N, or head home, I'll be with you. You have done, and are doing a wicked awesome adventure. I assure you, in either case, you will remember this forever!

If you go home, do this one thing, for all future hikers and particularly for the ATC and it's historical archives: finish your journal. I mean totally complete it! Stay with it for weeks, and come back to it for updates even months after the fact. You'll never have closure, not fully anyhow, and with your insight and grand writing style, you can honestly tell the untold stories of the many, many thousands who have walked your difficult path. Indeed, THIS may be your chosen path.

Altho, if you stay the course, phuk all that above schyt !!!

Naked, you have some excellent advise, and much love and good feelings going out to HYWAY, but this thread is awesome when you ignore HPD, all I'm seeing is you responding to his obviously al sharpton like baiting.

Ignore him, and let this thread be about Hyway only.

Hpd wants all threads to be about him, don't let him win another thread.

'92 was an El Ninyo year, or so I'd heard sometime then. I'd never before heard of that term up til then. I know it was dang sure wet as all get-out tho, I had prolly about 5 or 6 weeklong rains during that summer! In VA, I'd picked up a new pair of boots that were quite thin, and had gotten pruny foot so bad I had to take a double-zero! But on the otherhand, had no prollems with dry zones thru the mid-Atlantic states, never had to hump water.

HPD, I wanna ask a question seriously and I want your response..seriously, #1 who appointed you as Hyways defender of his hike, and #2 why can you give him advice like wishing it were hotter and how this will make it seem like its not too bad and "just stay hydrated and try not to think about the mental and physical pain of being under the hot sun without any shelter. stay focused!”
but if Ape or Crash give him advise or suggestions, based on their own Thru experience, then they are living vicariously thru him and not allowing him to hike his hike etc... ok that was 2 questions...but i'm just wondering...

Zac ~ can you please reroute the AT to go through the Daks, thereby removing NY from "meh" status?
lilmountaingirl
11:35:37 AM
6/23/10

let me rephrase, zac

the NY section of the AT is just meh. it was. it was really, really meh. when i have to play frogger across palisades parkway to get from harriman to bear mountain park, thats just not a wilderness experience
crash bang
11:35:42 AM
6/23/10

i'd like to see the AT go thru the daks, but then it would have to backtrack so it could get the green mts in, too
crash bang

Actually, I have no idea what the AT is like in NY. I've never been on it. It's too far away. lol

I'll try LMG, but the Dacks aren't part of the Appalachians.
lumberzac

I'd be ok with the AT going through the Daks and then making it's way to the Maine Jct. Lake Champlain would be a b*tch of a ford though.

It would also be a shame to miss Stratton Mtn.

Take it over the north end of Lake Champlain and the let it follow the northern LT to Main Jct.

I have no problem with deleting that one (since the context is now lost) - but the fact remains, it was not an unprovoked attack.

Nobody. Who appointed anybody as anything?

I didn't complain about crash. I complained about naked ape. If you read this thread, you will see he hasn't just "offered advice". He's, as I said, tried to micro-manage every aspect of this trip from the very beginning to whether or not Hyway should now quit.
HiGHPLAiNSDRiFTER

or maybe hyway shared some thoughts, concerns, and fears about the trip in that week or so they spent together and NA is pulling from those conversatons to offer encouragement in a way those of us that didn't have that time wouldn't be aware of?

chili-----> gives the hammer to NA. Go ahead, bean her in the head. She will appreciate it later.
chili36

6/23/10

maybe, but no. It starts before the hike and continued to the question of whether or not he should quit.

Regardless, I don't think a friend would micro-manage a trip such as this like that. It's not natural. That's my opinion - Nurse Goodbody asked.
