Coyote Attack

Lack of Fear is not a good thing for animals around humans.
Coyotes killed nearly all the areas cats and small dogs around my parents house a few years ago.
Deer hunters started shooting every coyote they saw, and the coyotes aren't seen by people now.”

“I have only heard of an aggressive coyote one other time. A friend was bit on her leg by a coyote that confronted her on a trail....I believe it was near Atlanta, GA.

The recent talk among the old Yoopers is that they expect something like that to happen here soon---only due to wolves rather than coyotes.”

Preaching to the choir, here. Yet woods are woods. Here there be tigers. Belle and Giz often smell something, but mosthings keep hidden. This incident goes to show you just never know. That's why I carry a coyote stick - yet I realize I will likely use it against dogs if I ever use it at all - besides as a staff, arrowhead plucker, weed whacker, etc.”

“We may never know for sure toejam. Coyotes in the Northeast are actually coyote/wolf hybrids and have been taking on larger pray for the past 30 years or so. I know in my area, whitetail deer has become the main food source for coyotes. If they can take down a deer, given the right opportunity they could take down a human.

She my have done something as simple as bent over to tie a shoe, which might have given the coyotes the idea of taking the opportunity.

This is strictly speculation though.”
