ki0eh, it was nice meeting you and laurel.
you're lucky if all you got was whining...two of mine decided to duke it out halfway to the parking. ha - i knew they couldn't go the whole weekend without at least one brawl.

it was great seeing everyone else again; hopefully next time, the weather will be better.

When we were hiking out Betty's daughter started whining about the pack being heavy and by the time we got to the trailhead she was standing in the middle of the path with her hands on her knees bent over forward. I said, "Awe look, she looks just like her dad!". LOL! They had fun and have learned so much about proper gear and how much of what to bring. I'm taking Jeff down to RRG in September and his pack will be down to 25 pounds if it kills him.

I think she felt better immediately. I suspect she was in such a wad over the storms she made herself sick. The poor kid is terrified of thunder and spent most of the night shaking next to me. She ate a huge breakfast at the Northwoods, didn't complain once on the hike out and slept almost the entire way home.
I'll never do another kids trip without paper towels and baby wipes! The most valuable item in my gear pile this trip by far, lol.

Mine too Bear. I don't know what her deal is. I've tried everything from scientific explanation to angels bowling. Nothing helps. We're to the point where she finally stays in her own bed at home, but it was a fantastic (and very very long) storm and we were in a tarp. Not a good combo for her I guess. No tears were shed at least.

Laurel slept a lot better through the thunderstorms than I did. And now hopefully she and Mommy will listen to me a bit more about the virtues of quick dry clothes. (Actually we stopped at REI in Pittsburgh to buy some on the way back.)

We have not even begun to vacuum (or "sweep" as they say in PA).

Target has great wicking shirts in the little girls section ki0eh. Champion makes them I believe. Half the cost of REI's.

Target around here starts carrying fake down jackets in mid-July. We were actually in there two weeks ago looking - nada. I'll have to mark my calendar for February, maybe that's when it will be there. ;)

Fortunately much of the stuff at REI was on the clearance racks. Except for the Sahara pants just like daddy's only a lot smaller - had to pay full freight ($45??!?!?) on those

I thought yinz were pulling my leg about the white rabbits, maybe a Midwest TT initiation rite or something. (Guess it still could be. ;) )

I've used the white rabbit method since I was a kid too. Is it a Michigan thing?

the variation we used as a kid also involved jumping on one foot while saying it however.. that probably isn't a good idea around a campfire..
