of course they can climb if they want! that is assuming they can get into a pair of shoes. i have quite a few pairs... even a pair too large is better than sneakers/etc. i am thinking we would be better served at one of the sport routes rather than one of the more obscure trad areas. i'll do some research tonight.

Thank you yogisan. The young adults That are coming with us have never been to the gorge before and are really looking forward to it. They have all camped before but with the exception of Drew, I think they have only camped in a campground. Drew is excited about them coming with us!

Just got to get through today. My group is heading down on Thursday afternoon. I wanted to get there before dark. There's nothing like setting up camp with a bunch of newbies, except setting up in the dark with a bunch of newbies.

Pioneer Camp is easy to navigate in the dark by headlamp. Just be sure to go all the way to the back!

First... your climbing in the Red, then Stompy caters, then the lovely Mariposa shows with a bourbon delivery (could it get any better than a HOT HOT Hottie bringing bourbon?!), now I find that there are a bunch of folks that I haven't had the chance to initiate into TT-dom present?!!! You guys are killing me! Realy!

Glad they had fun, windi. They are a great group and I was very impressed with all of them. They NEVER quit and were all very respectful and polite. If they stick with it they will make one heck of a climbing crew. They certainly have the spirit and aptitude. They are always welcome.

I sure enjoyed seeing everyone and I can't thank windigrrl and stomper enough for all the great food.

I got all teary eyed when it was time to leave. Boo hoo!

Jodi - I'm glad you came and hope you had a good time. Great story about Kodi. I'm so glad she made it out in time. :0

If you give a mouse a cookie,
He’s going to want a margarita.

We had a little “tailgating party” over the weekend which included plugging the blender into the power port of the car and blending up some tasty margaritas. As I unloaded the car today, I noticed little mouse turds in an open box of cookies. Now where could a mouse have come from? How did he get in? Where is the mouse now?

The aroma of margaritas and Nutter Butters could have easily coaxed the little furry ba$tard out of Crash’s car (which was parked next to mine) and into mine. Another possibility is that the Coleman tent I grabbed out of my garage and put into the car contained a hitchhiker.

So as I gingerly unload and unpack the car, I consider the following question: When I take my car in to be cleaned tomorrow, should I tell the crew about my little hitchhiker?

sort of a Red River Gorge classic... "Mr. Bungle". It's rated a 5.8+, however it's only the starting move and the rest is 5.7. I like to take beginners there because it's easy to get to by the road, lots of cool climbers are there and the route is very fun. the one woman that climbed it (now named "trooper" by crash i think) said she was scared but it just got more and more fun and then... there was nowhere else to climb and she kept wanting to go higher. i know that feeling WELL. :)

it was a great day.

there are a few other 5.8ish routes to the left of it... "face up to that crack" and "fast food christians" i think. they are fun too but the start is much more difficult. around the corner is "brother stair" which is a 5.9 i think and is a lot of fun. my favorite route in that crag (left flank wall) is "to defy the laws of tradition" which is a 10b i think.
