It's time for another fire bain. J/K!” 11:30:42 AM 4/09/09 “i was thinking of finding an illegal camp site and making a really LARGE fire Heh...and then maybe throw an empty bourbon bottle in it? lol” 1:19:44 PM 4/09/09 “only the plastic ones and i never did that” 2:21:44 PM 4/09/09 “only the plastic ones and i never did that Lol...oh yeah I forgot...YOU didn't do it” 5:56:06 AM 4/10/09 “i will neither confirm nor deny this fact. ...it looks like I have to work today, which stinks because it's a company holiday... but that means I can take next Friday off which is actually a good thing. So it looks like I'll be leaving late Thursday evening or Friday morning early for the Red. Not sure what I'll do when I get there but of others are going to be down there Thursday or want to share a ride with me that would be cool.” 8:24:49 AM 4/10/09 “Joe and I have already decided we're eating at Miguel's Friday for supper (ok, I decided). We plan on being there about 4:30 on Friday if anyone wants to plan their adventures accordingly and meet us!” 10:44:32 AM 4/10/09 “miguels rocks the house. i want to go there sometime for breakfast” 11:08:12 AM 4/10/09 “We were thinking Miguels for dinner Friday night as well. Looks like my son and a few of his friends are planning on joining us on this trip. I will be bringing a bunch of brats/sausages for Saturday night as well as stuff to make cobbler.” 12:23:42 PM 4/10/09 “man, you folks are hard core” 12:51:41 PM 4/10/09 “Looks like Joe is gonna gain weight again this trip! :)” 1:09:24 PM 4/10/09 “looks like i am going to drive down thursday night of friday morning. it will depend on when i can get off work and how tired i am on thursday. i really need a good belay if we plan to climb trad. have any of you done any climbing since the last time we met, specifically belaying a leader? i may ask one of the gym rats to come with me. if not then we can climb sport or i can find an area we can top-rope. you still need someone to belay a leader if you climb sport but i am more confident if i don't have to place gear. i guess i could bring my silent partner and solo climb using a novice belayer as a backup. it will work out.” 8:10:28 AM 4/11/09 Yogisan “I will be happy to help you with belaying. I have taken lessions on it at the gym and feel like I have it down pretty good. I have belayed for Stomper when she has gone to the gym. However, I do not have my own harness. I might be able to rent one here locally. Just let me know.” 8:51:28 AM 4/11/09 “sounds good. stomper has been going to the gym? we have to go back and try sunshine and moonbeam again! she almost made the start on sunshine... a 5.9+!” 10:33:07 AM 4/11/09 “I have a new dutch oven cookbook and would like to try a breakfast meal on you guys if you're willing. Is Meangreen/Capt Jack joining this trip? (My son wants to know) last edited: 4/11/09 10:52:19 AM” 11:16:16 AM 4/11/09 “Well, I thought I could rent a harness but they rent everything but the harness. Does anyone near the gorge rent them?” 11:36:01 AM 4/11/09 “possibly true north or miguels” 12:29:00 PM 4/11/09 “Nobody is going to rent a harness, out in the gorge. You could belay with out a harness, if you just wanted to belay. The belay device can be tethered off of a nearby tree or another source, fixed pro in the rock can work also. last edited: 4/11/09 1:19:50 PM” 1:44:37 PM 4/11/09 “Lol! Nobody rents gear when they climb with Yogisan! I have tons of everything in all sizes. I pick up shoes etc in different sizes for this reason.” 7:36:11 AM 4/12/09 “weather forecast looks pretty good. no rain on friday (as of right now), so looks like a good day to tackle indian staircase and cloudsplitter (thats the main draw for me this weekend). if the forecast changes to wet, i'll figure out a hike that doesnt involve scrambling on rock formations. i think maybe the loop in the north part of clifty wilderness. if its not even hiking weather, i'll work friday morn and show up late friday afternoon last edited: 4/12/09 7:16:09 AM” 7:43:36 AM 4/12/09 “windigrrl, breakfast sounds great! i'll take your backcountry experiments over restaurant food any day! fyi, when i solo lead climb with my silent partner (which isn't that often) I use a fixed anchor at the bottom. it's a great system and i am very confident with it. it wouldn't work so well if the silent partner wasn't good about feeding out rope without binding. the friction clutch/clove hitch setup on that thing is an amazing piece of engineering. it's motion is so smooth, especially when you get a lot of rope behind you. if you want to talk about the thrill of lead climbing this is it!” 9:23:09 AM 4/12/09 “The weather's looking great! I'm so excited about this weekend!” 11:09:55 AM 4/12/09 “JIm, I think I can belay for you. I can do what you taught Crash to do last time. The only problem I might have is knowing what to do if you get up real high and I can't hear or see you.” 11:43:45 AM 4/12/09 “crash did fine last time and with you on backup it was a safe lead. we'll be ok.” 12:05:53 PM 4/12/09 “Hey Windi...I don't know what you're cooking up for breakfast but I still have a bunch of those paper bowls left over from Hocking Hills if we need them...” 10:11:04 AM 4/13/09 “bring them Please. At this moment, I will have my son and 3 of his friends with me.” 10:12:37 AM 4/13/09 << back to HIke/Climb after Tax Season page
