Spindle, I think we should meet at the park office (not the one in Philipsburg, the one in the park). I looked at the park map (on their website) and I cannot locate the office, but I think it's where 503 crosses the lake. I would bet there will be directional signs. When we get there, we can ask the ranger where to park overnight.

I expect to get there around noon, maybe a little earlier if I don't get lost.

Any words of wisdom from you crazy PA folks as to any highways to avoid? I am coming up I81.

I called the park office. Spindle and 32oz, I think we should meet at the park office which will be open 8 - 4 on Friday. We can register our cars there and then park them at the Upper Beach Parking area.

If you are driving east on 504 (coming from Philipsburg), cross over the bridge that goes over the lake, turn right onto Beaver Road and the office is right there. I am sure there will be directional signs as well.

There is no fee to park.

CD- Jsut FYI, that's not anywhere near where we are starting, nor is this parking area on the trail.

Were you thinking of having people park there and then have one person drive to the trailhead?

Why? You have to pass the trail head to get to the park office if your comming off 80. The trailhead lot is big enough for about 8 -10 cars.

Jmitch, where exactly are we starting from?

I will be driving east on 504, coming from Philipsburg.

Where PA 504 crosses the east side of the loop. If you look at the online map, the Rock Run Trails are to the north. If heading east on PA 504, parking on left. If heading west, parking on right.

PA 504 crosses the western side of the loop at Sixmile Run (this is closest to Philipsburg). We are NOT starting there.

So CD, what do you want to do?

Do you still want to leave a car at the park office? If so, we might want to meet there a little earlier.

Since you guys are coming in from the other direction (sort of), let's just meet at the trailhead.

I responded.

I have some shopping plans in the works for afterward so I'll be needing my own car. Thanks tho.

I sent you directions, and how to find the 504 trailhead. No gps coords, I'ma slacker, and I've never been there either.

What time are you leaving?

The waffles are all YOU. He likes lattes too. I forget if he prefers non-fat or half-fat. Get one of each 'cause Pennsy will drink the one he doesn't.

I'm leaving around 8. See you there!

When I was up at the Penn State game I clocked it from the trail head to the exit at I80. Of course I'm at work now and its at home. I will post it tonight. I got it down to the tenth of a mile.
It will be easy to spot in daylight anyway and there is a big trail sign.
